The aircraft includes combating means (30) for combating the flutter phenomenon, which means are provided with stiffener means (31, 32) exerting predetermined compressive stress on said stabilizer portion (11, 12), said stiffener means (31, 32) being arranged at the root of the stabilizer portion (11, 12).
Abstract:
A wind turbine having two blades is rotated by omnidirectional gas motion. A generator is connected by a shaft to the wind turbine for generating electrical power by the rotation of the wind turbine. A method of extracting energy from moving gas comprises rotating a wind turbine having two blades by omnidirectional gas motion. The method includes connecting a generator by a shaft to the wind turbine and generating electrical power by the rotation of the wind turbine.

The present invention relates to a cytotoxic polypeptide which is an L-amino acid oxidase isolated from the ink of the sea hare Aplysia punctata.
Abstract:
An overvoltage protection element with a housing, with at least one overvoltage limiting component which is located in the housing, with terminal elements for electrical connection of the overvoltage protection element to the current or signal path which is to be protected, and with a state display which has a display element for display of the state of the overvoltage protection element. A conclusion about the state of the overvoltage protection element is easily possible as a result of a thermally activatable, endothermic material being both in thermal contact with the overvoltage limiting component and also in mechanical contact with the display element of the state display. When the overvoltage limiting component is heated above a certain minimum temperature, expansion of the thermally activatable, endothermic material produces a change in position of the display element whose magnitude is a measure of the heating of the overvoltage limiting component.
Abstract:
Process for producing a pressure vessel having an enveloping body which occupies an arch shape in its predetermined installation position. The enveloping body has pillow-shaped portions which are connected to one another by stamped transitions at the inner diameter area of the enveloping body. The enveloping body for the intended installation position is placed with its inner diameter area one-sidedly on a die having a raised wedge-shaped profile. A designated outer diameter area of the enveloping body contacts a supporting surface, and the enveloping body is filled with a pressure medium so that the enveloping body is tensioned on the die and, in so doing, is plastically deformed in the area of the wedge-shaped profile.
Abstract:
A magnetic separation plate for use in methods employing magnetic particles, said magnetic separation plate comprising a support plate and magnetic pins in a predetermined geometrical arrangement, said magnetic pins having a fastening portion, an intermediate portion and a separation portion and being fastened to said support plate at their fastening portion, wherein said magnetic pins are individually displaceable at their separation portion. The invention further provides a method for the separation of magnetic particles using the separation plate.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a mounting system (1) for mounting one or more solar panels (P). The mounting system (1) comprises: a plurality of elongate bearing members (10) adapted to be arranged spaced apart and substantially parallel to one another on a rooftop surface, and in particular on an outer sealing membrane (S) of the rooftop, and a plurality of fastening straps (20, 20′) for fastening the bearing members (10) to the rooftop surface. Each of the bearing members (10) is adapted for mounting a solar panel (P) or a support frame (F) of a solar panel thereon, and each of the fastening straps (20) is adapted to engage one or more of the bearing members (10) and includes a securing region (21) for securing the strap to the rooftop surface. In this regard, each of the fastening straps (20, 20′) is arranged, in use, to extend from one of the bearing members (10), preferably such that the securing region (21) of each fastening strap (20, 20′) is outside or beyond a vertical projection of the respective bearing member (10) on the rooftop surface.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for treating, preventing or ameliorating a chronic neurodegenerative disorder, in particular progressive muscular atrophy (PMA), said method comprising administering to a subject in need of such a treatment, prevention or amelioration a specific inhibitor of a caspase I-dependent cytokine. Also specific inhibitors of a caspase I-dependent cytokine for treating, preventing or ameliorating a neurodegenerative disorder, in particular PMA, are disclosed herein. Furthermore, the present invention provides for the use of (a) specific inhibitor(s) of a caspase I-dependent cytokine in the medical or pharmaceutical intervention of neurodegenerative disorders. In particular said cytokine to be inhibited is selected from the group consisting of interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-18 (IL-18), interleukin-33 and interferon γ (IFN-γ; interferon-gamma) and most preferably said inhibitor to be employed in context of this invention is a human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra), like anakinra.
Abstract:
Example motor cooling radiators for use in downhole environments are disclosed. A disclosed example radiator comprises a cylindrical housing having an annular passageway. The housing defines an inlet at a first end of the housing and an outlet at a second opposite end of the housing. A channel is arranged within the annular passageway of the housing along a spiral path to transport the first liquid and to define a spiral flow passageway between the inlet and the outlet for the second liquid. In operation, the first liquid does not contact the second liquid and heat is transferred between the first and second liquids as the second liquid flows in the spiral passageway.
