    摘要: Styrenic resins having incorporated therein from 0.5 to 15 pbw of a copolymerizable, ethlenically unsaturated carbonamide such as acrylamide form alloys with polyamides which exhibit improved compatibility, higher heat distortion temperatures and improved Izod impact values over the range of from 5 to 95 wt. % polyamide and 95 to 5 wt. % modified styrenic resin. The alloys may further include unmodified styrenic resins, as well as conventional stabilizers, fillers and the like.

    摘要: A miter gauge and method which provides substantially improved resolution in setting the miter angle without adding mechanical complication to the miter gauge mechanism compared to a conventional gauge configuration. The gauge includes a rectangular guide bar which slidably fits within the conventional guide groove of a cutting tool. The guide bar includes an elongated bar and is provided with a first reference pin hole aligned with the center axis of the guide bar for receiving a reference pin (F) held at a known distance of 5 inches from a pivot point on the bar. A slotted semi-circular frame is pivotally mounted to the top surface of the guide bar to pivot about the fixed pivot point on the guide bar. The guide frame includes a planar guide surface or fence against which the workpiece is held as it is moved into the cutting blade of the tool. The slotted semi-circular frame is provided with angular indicia typically between 0° and 60° on each side of the guide frame center line to help set the desired miter angle. A combination handle and screw extends through the slot in the frame and threadably engages the guide bar to clamp the frame at the selected angle with the guide bar. The frame further includes a rearward extending tab which supports a second, or fixed (S), reference pin at the same radial distance of 5 inches from the pivot point of the guide bar as the F pin hole in the guide bar so that the two pins remain on the same radius as the frame is pivoted. The exact miter angle is then set by accurately gauging the distance between the F and S pins in accordance with that determined by the relationship FS=10·Sine(&thgr;/2) where &thgr; is the desired miter angle.

    摘要: A highway line detection system which is insensitive to changes in road surface warns the driver of a motor vehicle when the vehicle is about to drift across either a center line or an edge line. A unit on each side of the vehicle directs light rays rich in infrared and red radiation downwardly toward the road surface, and includes a photoresponsive receiver responsive to the rays reflected from a painted line or mark. A valid center line or edge line has a width within a predetermined range of minimum and maximum widths and is recognized by the receiver to activate a suitable alarm, but other markings of greater or lesser width are discriminated against to prevent a false alarm. The receiver employs a series of photoconductive cells which are highly sensitive to radiation in the red and near infrared region; they are spaced horizontally on a line extending orthogonally with respect to the fore-and-aft axis of the vehicle in order to establish corresponding spaced points at which reflected rays are detected. Logic circuitry responsive to the photocell outputs activates the alarm if the combination of responding photocells is indicative of the reflection of received rays from a line on the road surface of at least said minimum width but no greater than said maximum width.
