    摘要: A dashpot with an inner cylinder (3) accommodated in an outer cylinder (1), and a piston (6) traveling back and forth inside on the end of a piston rod (5) and separating the inner cylinder into two chambers (7 & 8). The piston rod enters the cylinders through a hole at one end that seals it off and positions it. The outer cylinder is provided with a base (4) at the end opposite the end with the hole. The inner cylinder is centered along the axis of the outer cylinder at each end. The cylindrical gap (2) between the two cylinders is provided with a fluid-accommodating compartment (11) and, toward the base, a port (13) opening into the adjacent chamber (8). The chamber accommodates, preferably above the port, a vent (12). The mutually contacting ends of the cylinders are hot or cold welded together at the base end or at the end remote from the base.

    摘要: Ethylene polymers are manufactured in a tubular reactor under high pressure and at high temperatures in the presence of polymerization initiators. The polymerization is carried out in two different zones of the reactor, a mixture of ethylene, oxygen and regulator being fed into the first zone and a co-initiator having a half-life temperature, measured in benzene, of above 140.degree. C being additionally fed into the second zone. The co-initiator may be a peroxide or a hydroperoxide. The melt index, or the haze and gloss of a film produced from the resulting ethylene polymer, can be varied advantageously through the choice of the co-initiator.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for rapidly letting-down the pressure in continuous high pressure polymerization systems for the polymerization of ethylene. In this process, the let-down hot reaction mixture is passed into an expansion vessel in such a way that the jet of let-down hot reaction mixture issuing from the let-down line is led into the partially water-filled expansion vessel at an angle of from 0.degree. to 45.degree. to the water surface, so that the jet does not enter below the surface but must touch or strike it. The method described makes it possible to let the mixture down partially and thus to slow down the decomposition in the case of explosive decomposition reactions occurring in the polymerization system.

    摘要: Olefins containing from 3 to 30 carbon atoms are directly oxidized to epoxides and allyl alcohols in the liquid phase by contact with a gas stream comprising oxygen but substantially free from hydrogen, in the presence of two metal compound catalysts which are soluble in the reaction mixture. The catalysts are preferably a compound of a Group VII or VIII metal and a compound of a Group VA or VIA transition metal.
