摘要: An exchanger device for transferring mass and/or energy between a first medium and a second medium includes a chamber having a first inlet and first outlet of the first medium and through which the first medium can flow. The chamber is equipped with at least one, preferably a plurality, of one mass- and/or energy-permeable exchanger hollow fibers connected at one end to a second inlet and at the other end to a second outlet of the second medium. The second medium can flow through the fiber(s) and the first medium can flow around the fiber(s). The chamber is equipped with at least one pump element for displacing the first medium in and out of the chamber in a pulsing manner. The pump element has an elastically deformable element, is connected to a third inlet of a third medium used as a driving medium, and is expandable by the third medium.

摘要: A cardiac function variation evaluation apparatus includes: a continuous flow type auxiliary artificial heart 20 connected to a ventricle (10A); a pressure sensor 30 for detecting ventricle (10A) internal pressure; and means (a personal computer 40) for evaluating contractile variation of the ventricle, to which the auxiliary artificial heart 20 is connected, based on internal area APMp of a closed-loop of a relationship between the ventricle internal pressure detected by the pressure sensor 30 and a consumption power of the auxiliary artificial heart 20. Thus, the contractile variation of the ventricle, to which an auxiliary artificial heart is connected, can be continuously evaluated not by use of an ultrasonic echo apparatus or a conductance catheter but by use of a non-invasive method.

摘要: Method and apparatus for fragmentation of a lung embolus. The apparatus includes a catheter that is introduced over a guide wire to the site of the lung embolism in the vascular system of a patient. When the guide wire is withdrawn from the distal end segment of the catheter, the distal end segment bends back proximally. An opening in the bend of the catheter is in line with the central axis of the catheter when the distal end segment is in a curved configuration. The guide wire is then advanced to extend distally from the catheter opening past the embolism and stabilize the longitudinal position of the catheter in the blood vessel. The apparatus also includes a thread for pulling the bent distal end segment into a generally oval-shaped loop condition and stabilizing the loop about the embolism. The looped catheter is then rotated and moved longitudinally back and forth for mechanically destroying the embolism. To return the catheter to a straight condition, the rigid guide wire is withdrawn from the catheter, and a guide wire with a resilient J-tip is advanced to the distal end segment of the catheter. The J-tip guide wire follows the catheter past the catheter opening, thereby straightening the catheter for removal from the body. The apparatus optionally includes a handle or motor positioned at the proximal end of the apparatus.
