摘要: An arrangement of oil passages to a valve system can reduce the number of parts required thereby lowering the manufacturing cost. The oil passages to a valve system of an internal combustion engine are integrally formed with the cylinder block and a cylinder head. These oil passages are arranged along the outer surfaces on a side opposed to a cylinder liner and a combustion chamber relative to a valve system drive transmission.

摘要: In an overhead cam shaft engine with a starter motor, the starter motor is to be mounted to a front face of a crank case at a position close to a cylinder, thereby creating a space on the front face of the crank case, while preventing interference between a gear train for the transfer of rotation of the starter motor and a cam shaft driving mechanism. An overhead cam shaft type engine includes a starter motor, having a cam shaft driving mechanism disposed on one end side of a crank shaft and a gear train for the transfer of rotation of a starter motor. The gear train is disposed on an opposite side of the crank shaft. The axis of a gear shaft of at least one gear of plural gears which constitute the gear train is positioned above a crank case dividing plane. Furthermore, the starter motor is mounted to a front face of a lower crank case at an upper position close to a cylinder, and an oil filter is mounted in a space thus created below the starter motor on the front face of the lower crank case.

摘要: A breather structure for a blow-by gas which is capable of reducing the oil content in a blow-by gas as much as possible. A breather structure for the blow-by gas in an internal combustion engine, in which an auxiliary machinery is provided in a crank chamber of the internal combustion engine for centrifugally separating the oil content from a blow-by gas by rotation of a rotor portion, integrated with a crank shaft, of the auxiliary machinery. A breather passage for introducing the blow-by gas from which the oil content is separated to the outside of a crank chamber is formed in an auxiliary machinery cover for covering side portions of the auxiliary machinery. In this structure, a cylindrical wall having a center axis identical to the rotational center axis of the rotor portion of the auxiliary machinery is formed in such a manner so as to project from the auxiliary machinery cover to the rotor portion. Also, an outlet is in communication with the breather passage and is formed in a base portion of the cylindrical wall. Additionally, a discharge port opened inwardly of the cylindrical wall in the rotational direction of the rotor portion of the auxiliary machinery is provided for communicating the inside with the outside of the cylindrical wall. The discharge port is formed in the cylindrical wall.
