摘要: An ignition system for internal combustion engines of the type in which after the energizing current flow to the primary winding of an ignition coil has been interrupted and an ignition spark generating high voltage has been produced in the secondary winding, the primary winding is energized again to interrupt the ignition spark. The ignition spark is interrupted at around the TDC only when the engine is at high speed operating conditions and the deenergizing current in the primary winding is not interrupted in a moment but decreased gradually. Also, the ignition spark is interrupted only when the ignition spark is to continue beyond the top dead center.

摘要: An ignition system for a spark-ignition engine includes an ignition coil for applying a high voltage to each spark plug, a switch device connected in series with the secondary of the ignition coil for preventing in response to its conduction the supply of the high voltage to the spark plug, and a control circuit for turning on the switch device at a predetermined time after the generation of the high voltage, whereby the discharging at the spark plug is prevented under the combustion condition.

摘要: An ignition system for the internal combustion engine comprising a high voltage circuit for generating a spark, having the primary and secondary windings. In response to a first signal, the current in the primary winding is cut off thereby to generate a high voltage at the secondary winding. In response to a subsequent second signal, the primary winding is shorted thereby to cut off the high voltage thus far generated in the secondary winding, thus properly regulating the duration of the spark generated.

摘要: An ignition system for rotary piston engines includes a glow plug in addition to the normal leading spark plug and trailing spark plug. The glow plug is mounted in the housing of the engine on the leading side with respect to the trochoidal minor axis in the direction of the rotor rotation and performs continuous ignition of the mixture during low speed and load operation of the engine. Thus, during the low speed and load operation the glow plug performs ignition in place of the leading spark plug whereas during other engine operating conditions the leading spark plug and the trailing spark plug perform the ignition of the mixture.

摘要: An ignition device for a rotary piston engine includes a glow plug which is mounted at an ignition port formed in an engine housing to communicate with a combustion and operation chamber and which, when electrically powered, is heated to red hot to ignite an air-fuel mixture in the combustion and operation chamber. The glow plug ignites the air-fuel mixture through a communicating port which is formed to face the combustion and operation chamber and which has a smaller aperture area than the cross-section area of the ignition port.

摘要: An intake control valve of an intake device of an internal combustion engine comprises a given portion defined by an air intake passage that leads to a combustion chamber of the engine through an intake valve; a pivot shaft passing through the given portion; and a valve plate secured to the pivot shaft to pivot therewith within the given portion. The valve plate is pivotal between a close position to close the air intake passage and an open position to open the air intake passage. When the valve plate assumes the close position, the interior of the air intake passage downstream the valve plate is formed with mutually isolated first and second air flows that are separated and oriented to enhance a flow of air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.

The exhaust system includes at least one main exhaust path connected to at least one cylinder, an exhaust recirculation path that is branched out from the main exhaust path so that part of exhaust gas is recirculated to an inlet system, a bypass that is branched out from the exhaust recirculation path in which the bypass has a higher path resistance than that of the exhaust recirculation path and a bypass catalytic converter that is provided in the bypass.

摘要: An internal combustion engine that includes a cylinder block formed with a cylinder bore, a cylinder head operatively connected to the cylinder block; a piston slidably disposed in the cylinder bore to define a combustion chamber; an engine front side squish area and a rear side squish area where the engine front and rear side squish areas include narrow gaps formed between a cylinder head and the piston is disclosed. The engine front side squish area and the engine rear side squish area generate a squish flow in the combustion chamber in response to the piston moving within the cylinder bore. Engine front and rear side igniter plugs are also provided that each include a pair of electrodes placed adjacent the respective engine front and rear side squish areas so that squish flow may pass through an igniter gap defined between the pairs of electrodes of the front and rear side igniter plugs.

摘要: An air intake structure is provided with an air intake control valve disposed in the air intake passage. The air intake control valve has a valve element pivotally mounted at one end adjacent to a passage wall of the air intake passage. The air intake control valve is configured to control a gas flow based on the rotational position of the valve element. A horizontal partitioning plate extends along the flow direction of an intake air. The horizontal partitioning plate can be stationary or moveable with the valve element. The valve element has a swirl-producing notch and a vertical partitioning plate extends substantially perpendicular to the horizontal partitioning plate from a position corresponding to a vertical side edge of the swirl-producing notch when the air intake control valve is fully closed. The vertical partitioning plate can be stationary or moveable with the valve element.
