摘要: The invention provides a method of producing a platelike article having a molding formed on a peripheral edge thereof, using an extrusion die having a cavity for supplying a molding material to the peripheral edge. The peripheral edge has a straight portion and a curved corner portion. The cavity has first and second cavity portions. The method includes the steps of: (a) inserting the peripheral edge of the platelike article into the cavity of the extrusion die; (b) supplying the molding material to the cavity; (c) moving the platelike article relative to the extrusion die, with a moving speed of "Vs" at the straight portion and with a moving speed of "Vc" at the curved corner portion, while the peripheral edge is kept inserted in the cavity; and (d) extruding the molding material from the cavity onto the peripheral edge so as to form the molding on the peripheral edge, with an extrusion rate of "Ms" at the straight portion and with an extrusion rate of "Mc" at the curved corner portion, while the steps (b) and (c) are conducted, wherein the steps of (b), (c) and (d) are respectively controlled in accordance with a radius of curvature of the curved corner portion and/or with a sectional shape of the molding such that Mc/Vc becomes different from Ms/Vs. According to the method, the molding has a substantially constant sectional shape as desired even at a curved corner portion of the platelike article.

摘要: The invention relates to a glass plate having a molding formed on a peripheral edge thereof. The present invention provides an extrusion die having first and second void spaces formed therein. The first void space is provided for supplying an adhesive to the peripheral edge, and the second void space is provided for supplying a molding material to the peripheral edge. The first and second void spaces are specifically arranged relative to each other. With this, while the glass plate is moved relative to the extrusion die, the molding is extruded on the peripheral edge simultaneously with the formation of the adhesive layer on the peripheral edge. Thus, the formations of the molding and the adhesive layer are conducted in one production process. With this, the production efficiency is much improved. The present invention further provides a glass plate having an adhesive layer made of a thermoplastic hot melt adhesive and a molding made of a thermoplastic resin, which are formed on a peripheral edge of the glass plate. In the process for producing this glass plate, the heated thermoplastic resin having a specifically controlled temperature is brought into contact with the heated thermoplastic hot-melt adhesive having a specifically controlled temperature. With this, at a boundary between the adhesive layer and the molding, the thermoplastic hot melt adhesive and the thermoplastic resin are fused together and blended with each other. With this, bond strength of the molding to the glass plate is much improved.

摘要: A molding method which provides a relatively simple structure, while also providing a pleasing appearance which is adaptable to a variety of ornamental and artistic applications. The molding is produced by extruding an ornamental core, and joining trimming portions to the sides of the ornamental core. Where the ornamental core and trimming are formed of materials which can be readily joined together, the trimming is melt bonded directly to the side surfaces of the ornamental core. Alternatively, a foil laminate can be provided, and the ornamental core is joined to an upper layer of the foil laminate, with the trimming joined to a lower layer of the foil laminate. If desired, the width of the ornamental coil can be changed during extrusion molding, such that the width varies along the longitudinal direction of the molding.

摘要: A process and apparatus for manufacturing a frame with a groove such as a molding for use with a panel such as a windshield of an automobile. The process includes the steps of preparing a dummy panel having an outer configuration and a thickness equal to those of the panel, and continuously moving an extrusion port of a molding die means along the peripheral edge of the dummy panel so that a molding product is continuously formed along the peripheral edge of the dummy panel. The molding product is stripped from the peripheral edge of the dummy panel to obtain the frame with a groove. The groove is closely engageable with the peripheral edge of the panel. The apparatus includes a dummy panel having an outer configuration and a thickness equal to those of the panel, molding die means having an extrusion port, and moving means for moving the extrusion port of the molding die means relative to the peripheral edge of the dummy panel.

摘要: An automobile windshield molding comprising a molding body having molding parts and a fastener is installed in a space between a windshield and a window opening of automobile body panels. The fastener having a bendable protector which is bent by the molding for defining a space between the side molding part and an upper surface of the windshield. 摘要: An evaporator including a side plate formed with a number of openings each having rigidly secured therein the upper end portion of one of a number of U-shaped refrigerant tubes, a cover plate attached to the upper surface of the side plate and formed, by recessing its inner surface, with a plurality of bend sections each intercommunicating the upper end portions of the two tubes of the adjacent U-shaped refrigerant tubes forming a set, a distributor section for supplying a suitable refrigerant to refrigerant passages provided by the U-shaped tubes and the bend sections, a manifold section for collecting the refrigerant from the refrigerant passages and discharging same therefrom, and an expansion valve section extending between the distributor section and the manifold section in a manner to intercommunicate the two sections, and an expansion valve assembly mounted in the expansion valve section. In this evaporator, the refrigerant supplied through a high pressure refrigerant pipe connected to the cover plate passes through a valve section of the expansion valve assembly into the distributor section, from which the refrigerant flows through the tortuous refrigerant passages provided by the U-shaped tubes and the bend sections. The refrigerant changes into a gaseous state while flowing through the refrigerant passages, and the gaseous refrigerant is collected in the manifold section, from which it passes through a control section of the expansion valve assembly into a low pressure refrigerant pipe.
