摘要: A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell, a motor, a scroll type compressor, connected to the air feeding pipe of the fuel cell and a scroll type regenerator connected to the air exhaust pipe of the fuel cell. The movable scrolls of the compressor and the regenerator are coupled to opposite ends of the motor output shaft in symmetry with each other. A pressure ratio of the regenerator is selected to be smaller than that of the compressor by an amount corresponding to a pressure loss of the exhaust gas across the fuel cell, so that the rotation of the regenerator never transmits a negative torque to the motor output shaft MC. Therefore, the regenerator can efficiently provide power assistance to the compressor.

摘要: A solid polymer electrolyte type fuel cell system having a reduced size and weight, which exhibits an improved efficiency. To supply reaction gas to an anode or a cathode, a water lubricated type compressor is employed with the following operational advantages. The face pressure of sliding faces of the water lubricated type compressor, that is the compression ratio and number of revolutions thereof, can be greatly improved, as compared to the conventional oil free type compressor. The compression efficiency is improved by reducing of leakage of reaction gas between the sliding faces. No oil film is formed so as not to deteriorate the battery performance. The size of the water lubricated type compressors can be greatly reduced to about one-third to a half of the conventional oil free type compressor. In addition, the improvement of the compression efficiency and reduction of the friction loss result in a great reduction of driving power. Hence, the fuel cell system with the present arrangement is practical particularly when used as a power supply for driving a vehicle, which is severely required to have a reduced size and weight and to be economical.

摘要: A fuel cell system including a fuel cell having an air feeding tube, an air discharging tube and a fuel feeding tube, the air discharged from the fuel cell through the air discharging tube containing water. The system also includes a compressor, a water separation tank, and a water supply passage for supplying water collected in the water separation tank to the compressor. When the system is to be stopped, the water supply passage is first blocked while the compressor is operating. The humidity or the temperature of the process air is then detected, and the compressor is stopped when the detected humidity is lower than a predetermined value, or when the detected temperature is higher than a predetermined value.

摘要: This invention relates to a fuel cell apparatus in which a discharge gas having a pressure energy even after an oxygen has been consumed at the fuel cell is expanded at an expander to collect the pressure energy in the discharge gas as a mechanical energy for assisting driving of a compressor. A clutch (20) is disposed between the electric motor (16) and the expander (15) for connecting/interrupting the expander with/from the electric motor, and a control means (21, 22) for controlling the clutch is provided. The control means detects a pressure in the gas discharge tube (13) between the fuel cell (10) and the expander (15), to interrupt the clutch as long as a detected pressure is lower than a predetermined value, and to connect the clutch when the detected pressure becomes higher than the predetermined value.
