Abstract:
A repair device and method for repairing a forward frame v-blade on an aircraft engine are described in which the repair device replaces a section of the forward frame v-blade. In one embodiment, the repair device includes a repair part and a splice plate, the combination of which is secured to the forward frame v-blade. The repair part includes a repair part web and a pair of stiffening legs with a leg thickness that is greater that the thickness of corresponding flanges on the forward frame v-blade. The splice plate is configured to accommodate for the increased thickness of the stiffening legs, providing by way of example a reduced thickness area compatible with the repair part. Fasteners such as rivets are used to couple the repair device to the splice plate, and to couple the splice plate to the forward frame v-blade.
Abstract:
A face skin for an acoustic panel may comprise a sheet defining a first surface and a second surface. A plurality of slots may be formed through the face skin using abrasive blasting. Each slot of the plurality of slots may comprise a first semi-circular wall and a second semi-circular wall opposite the first semi-circular wall.
Abstract:
A component to be repaired includes a relatively rigid plate. On a surface that may have been subject to fracture, a resin material is first laid down, then a relatively flexible material is positioned outwardly of the resin material to repair the barrier. A part may also be formed initially with the flexible material. In another feature of this application, a method of forming a barrier includes providing a composite material, and applying a relatively flexible material on a surface of the composite material, and concurrently molding the relatively flexible material with the composite material using a composite mold.

Abstract:
A method of working a non-conforming exhaust sleeve utilizes a first plate disposed over an outer surface of an exhaust sleeve and a second plate disposed over an inner surface. The exhaust sleeve includes an aft sleeve attached to an aft edge of a cellular layer and the first plate extends from the cellular layer onto the aft sleeve. The second plate is disposed along the inner surface of the cellular layer. A first plurality of fasteners secures the first plate to the second plate through the cellular layer and a second plurality of fasteners secures the first plate to the aft sleeve.
