    摘要: An enhancement decoder for video signals, comprising an interface to receive a first video stream (1150) using a first signal element coding format from a standard decoder, an interface to receive an enhancement data stream and a de-multiplexer (200) to decompose the enhancement data stream into a first set of enhancement data, a second set of enhancement data and a range data. A first decoder video stream derived from the first video stream at a first resolution is enhanced by a first enhancer using the first set of enhancement data. A second decoder video stream derived from an output of the first enhancer is converted by an up-sampler to a second resolution. The second resolution being higher than the first resolution. A third decoder video stream derived from an output of the up-sampler at the second resolution is enhanced by a second enhancer using the second set of enhancement data. A coding format adjustment module converts one of the first to third decoder video streams from a first signal element coding format to a second signal element coding format using the range data.

    摘要: There is provided a method for encoding and decoding a signal. The input signal (1000) is processed by at least converting the input signal (1000) from a high-dynamic range—HDR-signal to a standard dynamic range—SDR-signal, to produce a first processed signal. The first processed signal is encoded by a first encoding module (1004) to generate a first encoded signal (1012). The first encoded signal (1012) is decoded to generate a first decoded signal. The first decoded signal is processed together with the first processed signal by a second encoding module (1006) to generate a second encoded signal (1014). The second encoded signal (1014) is decoded and the result is combined with the first decoded signal (1012) to generate a second decoded signal. The second decoded signal is processed at least by converting the second decoded signal from a SDR signal to a HDR signal, to produce a second processed signal. The second processed signal and the input signal (1000) are processed by a third encoding module (1010) to generate a third encoded signal (1020).

    摘要: A medical telepresence system comprising: an interface to receive a plurality of data feeds from a live medical procedure, at least one data feed comprising a video signal capturing the live medical procedure; a hierarchical encoder to encode the plurality of data feeds using a first tier-based hierarchical data coding scheme, wherein encoded data from the hierarchical encoder is decodable by a first set of computing devices for viewing, the first set of computing devices being communicatively coupled to the hierarchical encoder using a first network connection; a transcoder to convert from the first tier-based hierarchical data coding scheme to a second tier-based hierarchical data coding scheme, wherein encoded data from the transcoder is receivable by a second set of computing devices for viewing, the second set of computing devices being communicatively coupled to the transcoder using a second network connection, the second network connection being of a lower quality than the first network connection; and a recorder to store the output of the hierarchical encoder as a set of tier-based files for later retrieval, wherein each of the set of tier-based files represent different levels of quality.

    摘要: A content delivery network (100) for streaming digital video content across a data network. The content delivery network (100) is configured to receive digital video content. The content delivery network is configured to store the digital video content in a storage format comprising a base layer (B) and an enhancement layer (E), wherein the base layer (B) is decodable to present the digital video content at a base level of video reproduction quality, and the enhancement layer (E) is decodable with the base layer to present the digital video content at an enhanced level of video reproduction quality which is higher than the base level of reproduction quality. The content delivery network (100) is configured to determine, based on a target quality which is to be provided to a client device, which layers to use in order to achieve the target quality; and to use the determined layers (B, E) to provide the client device with the digital content at the target level of quality.

    摘要: Techniques for encoding a signal are described. A signal is down-sampled to generate a version of the signal. This version of the signal is then encoded to produce a first encoded signal. The first encoded signal is then decoded to produce a first decoded signal. The second decoded signal is up-sampled to obtain a first up-sampled decoded signal. A first residual signal is obtained by taking a difference between the first up-sampled decoded signal and a first reference signal. The first reference signal corresponds to the signal prior to down-sampling. The first residual signal is encoded to produce a first encoded residual signal. The first encoded residual signal and the first encoded signal may be received and decoded by a decoder to reconstruct the signal. The signal may comprise a set of frames of video.
