Abstract: An internal combustion engine system, including an internal combustion engine (ICE), an exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS) located downstream of said ICE. An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pump arranged in an exhaust gas recirculation duct extending between the ICE and EATS, wherein the ICE system has a normal operation mode for transporting, by means of the EGR pump, at least a portion of said exhaust gas to upstream of the ICE. The ICE system further includes a heating device arranged upstream of at least one exhaust aftertreatment devices of said EATS and the ICE system has a pre-heat operation mode for transporting, by means of the EGR pump, exhaust gas and/or air through said heating device and then to said at least one of said exhaust aftertreatment devices.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method estimates a state of health of a humidifier of a fuel cell system for a vehicle. The method includes in response to determining that a predefined condition for vehicle onboard measurements is fulfilled: performing step response measurements, comprising measuring parameters related to dynamic response of water mass transport and heat transport of the humidifier when step increases of the fuel cell system are performed, wherein a step increase is indicative of an instantaneous power increase of the fuel cell system, and fitting the measured parameters in a humidifier aging model and therefrom estimating the state of health of the humidifier.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for cleaning a component of an exhaust aftertreatment system located downstream of a combustion engine in an exhaust flow path delimited by an outer wall. The method includes sealing the exhaust flow path upstream of the first device and downstream of the second device, removing at least the first and second devices, thereby providing at least two openings in the outer wall, so that a cleaning flow path is provided, and introducing cleaning fluid into at least one of the openings, so that the cleaning fluid flows across the component via the cleaning flow path.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the temperature of an NOx controlling component in an exhaust after treatment system of an internal combustion engine. The NOx controlling component has inner surface portions defining an interior component space through which exhaust gases are arranged to flow in order to be NOx controlled, and has outer surface portions facing away from the interior component space. The method comprises the step of: controlling the temperature of at least a portion of the NOx controlling component by a heat transfer medium arranged outside of the outer surface portions. The invention also relates to an exhaust after treatment system and a vehicle with such a system.

Abstract: A cooling system in a fuel cell electric vehicle comprising a first chamber configured to contain relatively hot fluid and a second chamber configured to contain relatively cold fluid. The ratio of cooling power/fan power of a positive displacement device at a heat exchanger is monitored and thermal energy transfer between coolant and the chambers is controlled based on the ratio. When the ratio is above a pre-defined value or value range, thermal energy from the first chamber is provided to the coolant in the coolant circuit and passed into the heat exchanger, after which part of the thermal energy of cooled coolant leaving the heat exchanger is provided to and stored in the second chamber. The stored cold thermal energy is released from the second chamber when the ratio is below the pre-defined value or value range. The invention also relates to a method of controlling a cooling system.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling operation of a fuel cell system of a fuel cell vehicle, to reduce an amount of heat generated by one or more heat sources in the fuel cell system, are provided. The method comprises obtaining a value of power output of the fuel cell system, the value indicating a power demand from the fuel cell system during operation of the vehicle; and adjusting a value of a target coolant inlet temperature of a coolant at a coolant inlet of the fuel cell stack to vary between a first target temperature level and a second target temperature level, in dependence on the value of the power output, to optimize a duration of time during which the target temperature is different from the first target temperature level and to optimize a value of one or more parameters related to operation of the fuel cell system.
