Abstract: Disclosed is a system for monitoring ophthalmic conditions. The system includes a headset configured to be worn by a user and a device. The headset includes a display and an ophthalmic testing unit comprising one or more sensors to obtain sensor information indicating a physiological measurement of an eye of the user. The device includes a processor to execute instructions stored in a memory to: receive surgical information, from a data structure, corresponding to a first time in which a physiological measurement of the eye is obtained; receive sensor information, from the headset, corresponding to a second time in which a physiological measurement is obtained; and generate an ophthalmic score based on a comparison between the surgical information and the sensor information. Other aspects are also described and claimed.

Abstract: Adjustable ophthalmic devices, systems including adjustable ophthalmic devices, and methods of adjusting an optical power of an ophthalmic device are described. In an embodiment, the ophthalmic devices include a body including an inner surface defining an aperture through the body, wherein the inner surface includes a feature selected from a sharp surface feature, a layer on at least a portion of the inner surface having a surface energy different than a surface energy of the inner surface, and a combination thereof. In an embodiment, the ophthalmic device includes two immiscible liquids disposed in the aperture defining a meniscus, wherein a curvature of the meniscus is defined at least in part by a position of an interface between the layer and the inner surface, a position of the sharp surface feature, or combination thereof.

Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms for the wireless transmission of power and sensor information between two components of an implantable ophthalmic device are disclosed herein. An example device includes an accommodating intraocular lens (aIOL) and separate auxiliary electronics, both enclosed in biocompatible materials. The aIOL includes a dynamic optic, control logic, a battery and an antenna. The auxiliary electronics include an antenna, an energy storage cell, and a sensor. The auxiliary electronics may be wirelessly coupled to the aIOL for the wireless transmission of power and sensor information.

Abstract: Techniques and mechanisms to facilitate implantation of an ophthalmic device in an eye. In an embodiment, the ophthalmic device includes multiple housing structures (housings), where components of the ophthalmic device are variously disposed in respective ones of such housings. The housings are flexibly coupled each to a respective other one of such housings. One or more flexible interconnects of the device allow for articulation of the housings during implantation in an eye. In another embodiment, first circuitry disposed in one housing facilitates operation of the ophthalmic device to sense a condition at the eye or to assist sight with the eye. Second circuitry, disposed in another of the housings, is electrically coupled with the first circuitry via a flexible interconnect.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for determining a standoff distance to an eye are provided. In one example, a system may include a structure along a first axis toward an eye, a linear sensor array, and a light source to emit a beam of light toward the linear sensor array along a second axis. The beam of light may comprise a width such that a first portion of the beam of light illuminates a lateral surface of the eye and a second portion of the beam of light passes in front of the eye. The system may determine, based on a measurement of the second portion, a standoff distance between the structure and the eye along the first axis. Another example may include an ultrasonic transducer assembly to emit an ultrasonic pulse toward the eye and detect a reflection of the pulse to determine the standoff distance.

Abstract: Endoscopic systems including multimode optical fibers for and methods of interrogating a portion of a body are described. In an example, the endoscopic system includes a multimode optical fiber, a coherent light source positioned to emit coherent light through the multimode optical fiber, and a photodetector positioned to absorb scattered coherent light emitted from the multimode optical fiber and configured to generate a speckled light signal based on the scattered coherent light. In an example, the endoscopic system includes a controller configured to analyze the speckled light signal with machine learning classifier and to generate an identification signal indicative of a characteristic of the portion of the body.
