    摘要: An electric motor and fuel pump assembly with a housing having generally opposed ends with an electric motor within the housing having an armature with an axial commutator adjacent one end of the armature and one end of the housing. A fuel pump is positioned adjacent another end of the housing and the armature and is operably connected to the armature for being driven by the electric motor. A carrier within the housing has guides slidably receiving axially elongate brushes disposed generally parallel to the armature axis with ends contacting the commutator. Each brush is biased generally axially into contact with the commutator by a torsional spring with a coiled body having an axis generally transverse to the axis of the armature to decrease the overall axial length of the pump assembly. Preferably an end cover of the housing overlies and encloses the springs and brushes and preferably has an outlet port laterally offset from the brushes and within the outer periphery of the end cover to further decrease the overall axial length of the fuel pump assembly. Preferably electrical connector blades extend through the end cover and are laterally offset from and axially overlap in electrical connection with the brushes for supplying current to the motor.

    摘要: A fuel system with a fuel tank having at least one opening into an interior of the fuel tank, and an electrically operated vent valve having an inlet communicated with the interior of the fuel tank and an outlet for venting fuel vapor from the fuel tank. The vent valve is movable in response to an electric signal between an open position allowing fuel vapor through the outlet and a closed position to restrict fluid flow through the outlet. A controller is operably communicated with the vent valve to control application of an electric signal to the vent valve and thereby control at least in part the movement of the vent valve between its open and closed positions. In one embodiment the controller is responsive to a fill level in the fuel tank to control the position of the vent valve and thereby the fill level attained within the fuel tank.

    摘要: An engine fuel apparatus has a fuel and air mixing passage through which a rich fuel and air mixture is provided to an engine to support the operation of the engine at idle and low speed, low load engine operation, and a pressurized fuel delivery passage provides liquid fuel to a downstream fuel injector for operation of the engine at high load, high speed and wide open throttle engine operating conditions. A shut-off valve prevents the flow of fuel to the mixing passage when a throttle valve therein, which controls engine operation, is opened a predetermined amount from idle to prevent the flow of the fuel into the mixing passage at high load and/or high speed engine operation. Another shut-off valve prevents the flow of pressurized fuel to the downstream fuel injector device when the throttle valve is between idle and a predetermined position off of idle to prevent the flow of pressurized fuel to the fuel injector device under low speed, low load engine operation. Desirably, a camshaft rotated in response to rotation of the throttle valve is used to actuate both shut-off valves.

    摘要: A no-return system for supplying fuel from a tank to a fuel injected internal combustion engine of an automotive vehicle in response to the fuel demand of the engine. The pump supplies more fuel than that required by the operating engine and the excess fuel is diverted from the engine by a bypass fuel pressure regulator and returned to the tank through a fluid-activatable switch movable to electrically open and closed states in response to the rate of flow of excess fuel through the switch. An electric control circuit is responsive to the state of the switch to change the magnitude of the power applied to the electric motor to change its operating speed and thereby modulate the output fuel flow rate of the pump in response to the fuel demand of the engine.
