    摘要: A method and system for fabricating magnetic transducer are described. The method and system include providing a main pole having a bottom and a top wider than the bottom. The method and system further include performing a high energy ion mill at an angle from a normal to the top of the main pole and at a first energy. The high energy ion mill removes a portion of the top of the main pole and exposes a top bevel surface for the main pole. The method and system also include performing a low energy ion mill at second energy and a glancing angle from the top bevel surface. The glancing angle is not more than fifteen degrees. The second energy is less than the first energy. The method and system also include depositing a nonmagnetic gap.

A depression that forms a bevel is provided in the stop layer. The bevel has a depth less than the thickness and a bevel angle with respect to a remaining portion of the top surface. The bevel angle is greater than zero and less than ninety degrees. An intermediate layer having a substantially flat top surface is provided over the stop layer. A trench is formed in the intermediate layer via a removal process. The trench has a profile corresponding to the pole. The stop layer is a stop for the removal process. The method also includes providing the pole in the trench. The pole has a leading edge bevel corresponding to the bevel in the stop layer.

In an embodiment, a writer structure comprising a magnetic writer pole having a trailing bevel and a nonmagnetic stack on the top surface of the writer pole is provided. A dielectric write gap layer comprising alumina is deposited over the trailing bevel section and the nonmagnetic stack; and at least one etch stop layer is deposited over the dielectric write gap layer. A layer of nonmagnetic fill material is deposited over the etch stop layer and to form a nonmagnetic bevel by performing a dry etch process. The etch stop layer(s) are removed from the short throat section; and a trailing shield is deposited over the short throat section, nonmagnetic bevel, and nonmagnetic stack top surface.

    摘要: A current-steering charge pump circuit and method for switch timing that reduces the amount of switching transients on an output current pulse produced by the charge pump. The current-steering type charge pump circuit includes four control signals, UP, UPB, DN and DNB. In order to produce an UP current pulse output signal, the UPB control signal is first asserted, followed by the UP control signal. After a period of time, which is proportional to the error signal that needs to be applied to a VCO, the UPB signal is first unasserted, followed by the UP signal. Similarly, to produce a DOWN current pulse output signal, a DN control is first asserted, followed by a DNB control signal. After a period of time, which is proportional to the error signal that needs to be applied to a VCO, the DN signal is first unasserted, followed by the DNB signal.

The apparatus and method may be advantageously adapted for use in either voltage-to-current amplifiers or voltage-to-voltage amplifiers, single-ended or differential designs.     摘要: The invention provides a system and method for microscopic X-ray fluorescence. An X-ray source, X-ray focusing element and a tapered X-ray opaque focusing aperture provide a focused X-ray spot on a sample. The system translates a sample between an imaging position and a testing position. In the imaging position, the sample is aligned in three dimensions and after alignment, the system automatically translates the sample between the imaging position and the testing position. To avoid collision between the sample and other elements of the system, a position detecting device terminates the sample translation if the sample trips the position detecting device. The focusing aperture of the system has a tapered through opening to block unfocused X-rays and reduce or eliminate a halo effect. To detect low atomic number elements, a detector aperture is vacuum sealed to an X-ray detector and X-ray elements of the system are vacuum evacuated.
