摘要: A record carrier is described carrying a video signal and at least one additional information signal, such as graphics or audio. The at least one additional information signal is meant to be reproduced simultaneously with said video signal. The record carrier further carries scheduling information indicating in which order parts of the at least one additional information signal or video signal have to be read from said record carrier. The scheduling information enables a reproducing device according to the invention to read parts of the video signal and the additional information signals such that no buffer overflow or underflow occurs. The size of the buffers in the apparatus can be reduced by means of the scheduling information.

摘要: A method is described for recording an audiovisual information stream comprising a background sound stream (2), a background graphics stream (3), an optional original sound stream (20) containing original spoken text, at least one optional translation sound stream (21, 22) containing spoken text in different languages, and at least one optional subtitle picture stream (30, 31, 32) containing subtitles. A first information stream (140) is recorded which contains the background sound stream (2), and a second information stream (15) is recorded which contains the background graphics stream (3). The optional translation sound streams (21, 22) are each recorded as individual elementary audio files (142, 143; 242, 243; 342, 343) separate from the first and second information streams, and the optional subtitle graphics streams (30, 31, 32) are each recorded as individual elementary graphics streams (151, 152, 153; 351, 352, 353) separate from the first and second information streams.

摘要: It is described a method for compensating jitter on data packets by clock time derived time stamping upon transmission of the data packets. This results in transmission time stamps. The jitter is compensated based on a comparison between the transmission time stamps and generated reception time stamps of the data packets, whereby the reception time stamps are derived from the same clock time as whereof the transmission time stamps are derived. The comparison provides time delay information which is used for calculating a required minimum and maximum buffer size, for absorbing the practically experienced jitter at the receiver end of the transmission medium. The method is also suited for real time applications, such as MPEG, DVB and DSS.

摘要: A method is described for recording an audiovisual information stream comprising a plurality of alternative parts (VS1; VS2; VS3) and at least one common part (AS1; AS2; GS1; GS2), wherein the alternative parts of the information stream are recorded in an interleaved manner. Each of the alternative information stream parts is divided into alternative information stream blocks (VSB1(i); VSB2(i); VSB3(i)). Each of the common information stream parts is divided into common information stream blocks (ASB1(i); ASB2(i); GSB1(i); GSB2(i)). The information stream is recorded as a succession of consecutive interleaved units (IU(i)), each interleaved unit comprising one corresponding block (ASB1(i); ASB2(i); GSB1(i); GSB2(i)) of each of the common information stream parts (AS1; AS2; GS1; GS2) and one corresponding block (VSBI(i); VSB2(i); VSB3(i)) of each of the alternative information stream parts (VS1; VS2; VS3), the common information stream blocks being separate from the alternative information stream blocks.

摘要: The present invention relates to a storage device, a storing method and rewritable record carrier for storing data file, wherein a rewriting frequency of the date files is identified and the data files are classified based on their identified rewriting frequency. Each data file is then written using a rule selected according to the result of classification. The definition of the allocation class and rules based on the rewriting frequency enables an optimization of the file storage for endurance and power consumption. Thereby, the life time of the storage medium and the battery life of the whole system can be extended.

摘要: A method and apparatus for editing a recorded data stream is disclosed. A frame number is received from a user interface for an edit point in the recorded data stream selected by a user. An expected presentation timestamp of the selected frame number is calculated. A first predetermined value is added to the expected timestamp to form a first time limit. The first predetermined value is then subtracted from the expected presentation timestamp to form a second time limit, wherein the first and second time limits form a time window. The system then searches for the selected frame at the expected presentation timestamp on a storage device using the time window. The predetermined values are chosen to ensure that only a single frame (the required frame) can have a PTS within the time window.

摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus for recording a main file comprising a main information signal and auxiliary files comprising auxiliary signals in a track on a record carrier. The apparatus writes in a first location a block of an auxiliary file comprising a part of an auxiliary information signal having a specific presentation time, in a second location a subsequent block of the corresponding auxiliary file and in at least one location between the first and second location at least one block of the main file comprising a part of the main information signal having a presentation time which corresponds to the presentation time of the auxiliary information signal to be written in the first location. In this way the respective files are interleaved written on the record carrier such that the jumping time between subsequent read actions is significantly reduced. This results in an increase of the effective read bit-rate of a playback device.

摘要: A method is described for writing an audio/video information stream to an optical disc (2), and for reading the information from disc. The information stream comprises a plurality of alternative video parts (VS 1; VS2; VS3) which are recorded in an interleaved manner; an interleaved unit (IU(i)) comprises a plurality of angle blocks (ABj(i)), each angle block (ABj(i) comprising one portion (VSj(i)) of each of the alternative video stream parts (VSj). For each video portion, a plurality of entry points (EP) are defined. A user is allowed to change from one video stream (VS2) to another video stream (VS 1; VS3) at any moment during the playback of a video portion; the change will be effected at the first entry point after the user command. Thus, it is not necessary to wait until the video portion has been completely played back; thus, it is possible to define large angle block lengths, so that during normal play the jump frequency is reduced.
