摘要: A primary alkaline battery includes a cathode having an alkali-deficient nickel (IV)-containing oxide including metals such as Ni, Co, Mg, Al, Ca, Y, Mn, and/or non-metals such as B, Si, Ge or a combination of metal and/or non-metal ions as stabilizing dopants; a combination of metal ions as dopants; an anode; a separator between the cathode and the anode; and an alkaline electrolyte. The battery can be pre-discharged within one hour after assembly to decrease the open circuit voltage.

摘要: The present invention provides a medical implant material comprising mammalian transglutaminase and a polymer, wherein the transglutaminase is provided in the absence of free divalent metal ions and wherein the polymer is associated with the transglutaminase binding protein. Preferably, the transglutaminase is a tissue transglutaminase, which is coated on, impregnated into or covalently linked to the polymer. The polymer may be naturally occuring or synthetic, and may be biodegradable or non-biodegradable. The medical implant material may further comprise a reinforcing agent and/or one or more additional polymers. The invention further provides the use of a mammalian transglutaminase in a method for improving the biocompatibility of a medical implant material, the method comprising the steps of (i) providing a medical implant material comprising a polymer associated with a binding protein for binding the transglutaminase, and (ii) treating said material with a mammalian transglutaminase.

摘要: A method of producing a polymer comprises the steps of forming a heterogeneous reaction mixture comprising at least one addition polymerizable monomer, a supercritical fluid, and a stabilizer, wherein the stabilizer comprises a chain which is soluble in the supercritical fluid and functional end-group which is not polymerizable by a free-radical mechanism, and polymerizing said at least one monomer in the reaction mixture. In a preferred system for polymerizing acrylic monomers, the fluid comprises supercritical carbon dioxide and the stabilizer comprises an acid-functionalized perfluoropolyether.
