摘要： A switching mechanism interfaces a flexible shaft to a handle of a circuit interrupter which is rotatable in an arcuate path between an on position and an off position. The switching mechanism includes a handle attachment attached to the handle for rotating the handle between the on position and the off position, and a bracket pivotally mounted to the handle attachment and attached to the flexible shaft for movement thereby. The handle attachment may also extend a length of the handle. The switching mechanism may further include a baseplate for securing the flexible shaft thereto and attached to the circuit interrupter. The bracket may have a generally U-shape, two arms pivotally mounted to the handle attachment, and a base which is attached to the flexible shaft. The handle attachment may be generally U-shaped and have a base and two arms which each are pivotally mounted to one of the two arms of the bracket. The two arms of the bracket may be generally oriented at right angles to the two arms of the handle attachment. The flexible shaft may have a linearly movable rod which moves generally tangential to the arcuate path of the handle and in a plane thereof. The handle attachment may have a clamp for clamping the handle attachment to the handle. The base may include a tab for positioning a length of the handle within the handle attachment. Alternatively, the handle attachment may have a base which is screwed to a hole in the handle.

摘要： A locking attachment is for a circuit breaker. The circuit breaker includes a housing enclosing separable contacts and an operating mechanism, an elongated operating member with a handle that operates to open and close the separable contacts, and an opening in the housing through which the elongated operating member protrudes. The opening has first and second ends corresponding to “on” and “off” circuit breaker positions, respectively. The locking attachment includes a locking member having a first end having a compressive segment with opposed portions for compressively capturing the operating member. The second end of the locking member is structured to engage the housing of the circuit breaker at one of the first and second ends of the opening in the housing, thereby locking the circuit breaker in either the “on” or “off” position.

摘要： The helical contact compression springs of a circuit breaker are preassembled in a contact clip for easier assembly of the circuit breaker. The bottom wall of an elongated trough formed by the clip is pierced by holes forming cylindrical protrusions extending into the trough. The clip is placed over the springs supported in a row in a fixture. A die head presses on the spring clip to compress all the springs and then simultaneously insert punches into the holes in the clip to expand the protrusions and secure the springs to the clip. The fixture includes a slide mounted on guides for movement between a loading position and an operating position under the die head. A support block is pivoted on the slide to present one of two sets of spring recesses for circuit breakers having different current ratings with the slide in the loading position.

An arcuate reset surface of the cradles independently engages a corresponding end of the cross member when the operating mechanism is moved toward the first position thereof. The cross member engages a linear latch surface of the cradles for latching the operating mechanism in the first position thereof.

摘要： A laminated contact assembly formed from a plurality of contact arm subassemblies includes a contact arm portion, for carrying a movable main or arcing contact, and a stationary conductor portion. A flexible shunt, form wound from a flat electrical conductor, is used to connect the contact arm portion to the stationary conductor portion. The flexible shunt is formed into a V-shape defining two depending legs. The free ends of the shunt defining bulb portions are inserted into keyholes formed in the contact arm portion and the stationary conductor portion. A pin is inserted into a central portion of the bulb portion to exert radially outward forces against the interior surface of the keyhole to increase the contact force between the bulb portions and the keyholes to form joints having a lower electrical resistance. The pin may be inserted into the central portion of the bulb portion by orbital riveting.

The load end conductor and the line end conductor both have a non-circular opening, such as a square opening. The cylindrical projection of the center conductor is deformed, in order to attach the center conductor and the load end conductor together.
