    摘要: A thermochromic drawing device is disclosed which can be marked and erased by selectively changing the temperature of its drawing surface. The drawing surface of the drawing device consists of a flexible substrate printed with thermochromic inks having at least two color states. The flexible substrate has low thermal mass thereby enabling it to readily assimilate temperatures induced by a user and, consequently, facilitating the transition of the thermochromic inks from one color state to another. The drawing surface is further provided with an insulating layer which isolates the flexible substrate from unwanted heat sinks and heat sources thereby preventing unwanted color transitions of the thermochromic inks. Thus, a user can selectively change the color state of portions of the drawing surface to create distinctive markings.

    摘要: Restriction enzymes are used to remove from DNA a complete and undamaged structural gene coding region for the expression of DNA polymerase I (polA) without the gene's natural promoter or with only a significantly damaged portion of the gene's natural promoter. Also by the use of restriction enzymes, a segment from a plasmid cloning vector is excised at a position adjacent to a promoter which is conditionally controllable and may be more powerful than the damaged or removed promoter. The gene for DNA polymerase I is enzymatically cloned into said vector at the position of said removed segment and adjacent to said conditionally controllable promoter. Multicopies of the cloned vector are introduced into a host baterial strain (E. coli). The host strain is then cultured so that the cell colony grows and replicates new generations containing replicated foreign plasmid. During such said replication the activity of said controllable promoter is repressed. After the cell colony has grown, the repression of said controllable promoter is removed and the cells express an amplified amount of DNA polymerase I which is lethal or inhibitory to the cells. An improved procedure is disclosed comprising a sequence of steps for harvesting purified DNA polymerase I.

    摘要: A method is provided for recovering a polyether antibiotic, such as lonomycin, monensin or ionomycin from a fermentation broth, wherein the polyether is first extracted with a water-immiscible solvent, such as ethyl acetate, and the resulting extracts concentrated, dissolved in aqueous methanol and then extracted into hexane, benzene or mixtures thereof. The polyether is thereby recovered in crystalline form directly from the latter extract.

    摘要: A task management system and method integrates rich functionality into a web-browser based application. An efficient request for an update enables a user to quickly generate a completely customizable email message to intended recipient(s). By introducing a client side, in-memory database, the client component becomes less susceptible to network connectivity glitches and enables user interfaces to be redrawn without server interaction. Additionally, the task management system and method provides flexibility by enabling tasks to be grouped and organized. Specifically, a task may be associated with multiple task sheets and a task sheet may include multiple tasks in a many-to-many manner. Also, templates may be created that enable a user to start with a base template and to add (or remove) one or more columns. Further, the task management systems allows for multiple users to access and manipulate task data concurrently. In addition, the task management system provides a means for viewing the change history of task data within a task sheet by highlighting task data within a task sheet that has been changed by another user of the task management system.

    摘要: The open circuit voltage of a battery which is connected in a closed circuit is determined without breaking the circuit or causing voltage upsets therein. The closed circuit voltage across the battery and the current flowing through it are determined under normal load and then a fractional change is made in the load and the new current and voltage values determined. The open circuit voltage is then calculated, according to known principles, from the two sets of values.
