Abstract: A method of mimicking a phenotype of a first ruminating animal in a second ruminating animal is disclosed. The method comprises administering to the second ruminating animal a microbial composition comprising a plurality of microbes having a signature which is statistically significantly similar to the microbial signature of a rumen microbiome of the first ruminating animal, wherein the first and the second ruminating animal are of identical species, thereby mimicking the phenotype of the first ruminating animal in the second ruminating animal.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions and methods for modulating a macrolide antimicrobial, modulating an immune function, increasing the effectiveness of an antibiotic, and/or increasing the number and effectiveness of alveolar macrophages in treating a vertebrate animal. The method comprises feeding to the animal a feed composition comprising (1, 3), (1, 6), beta-glucans and optionally mannans to increase the number of alveolar macrophage cells, and administering a macrolide antibiotic to the animal.

Abstract: A method of enhancing the growth of an animal, as well as treating or preventing antimicrobial infections is provided. The method includes causing the animal to ingest or absorb an effective amount of one or more Fe III complex compounds, including but not limited to Fe III complexes comprising ligands bound to the iron center such as amino acids or α-hydroxy acids. The compounds are also useful for inhibiting, reducing, or preventing biofilm formation or buildup on a surface; the treatment of, inhibition of growth of, and inhibition of colonization by, bacteria, both in biological and non-biological environments; disinfecting surfaces, potentiating the effects of antibiotics and other anti-microbial agents, and increasing the sensitivity of bacteria and other microorganisms, to anti-microbial agents are also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments herein include a composition that can include a saponin composition including saponins and at least one medium chain fatty acid (MCFA) or ester or salt thereof. In an embodiment, the saponins and at least one MCFA present in the composition can work synergistically to prevent methanogenesis by bacteria.
