    摘要: A system is provided for controlling at least one fuel delivery characteristic during a combustion event within an engine. The system includes an accumulator having a variable volume, where the accumulator is configured to hold fuel at a variable pressure based on the variable volume. The system further includes a combustion chamber coupled to the accumulator. The variable volume is varied during the combustion event such that at least one fuel delivery characteristic of the fuel delivered from the accumulator into the combustion chamber is varied during the combustion event. A method and computer readable media are also provided for controlling at least one fuel delivery characteristic during a combustion event within an engine.

    摘要: A system (400) and method of determining fuel demands of a locomotive engine (10) based upon engine speed and power produced by the engine at a given time, so to optimize the engine's power output for a load while reducing engine emissions. The engine control architecture comprises three interrelated control loops (100–300). A primary feedback control loop (100) employs integral type control with gain scheduling to regulate engine speed to commanded slew rated based upon the locomotive's operator commands. A second control loop (200) provides an active, feed forward or predictive control consisting of a plurality of correction functions each utilizing a Taylor series having coefficients for each term in the series, the coefficients being modified to adapt the system to the engine with which it is used. A control third loop (300) optimizes reference speed slew rates and engine load rates by providing feedback of nominal engine fuel requirements or fuel demand, corrections to fuel demand based upon outputs from the second control loop, speed error values, and ambient conditions.

    摘要: A system is provided for managing an amount of stored energy in a powered system. The powered system is configured to complete a mission from an initial stage to a final stage. The system includes a controller including a memory configured to store a plurality of handling stages. The controller is configured to determine the stored energy at the initial stage based upon the initial stage and a handling stage positioned between the initial stage and the final stage, and selected from among the plurality of handling stages stored in memory. The stored energy is necessary to propagate the powered system from the initial stage to the handling stage upon the occurrence of an anomaly in the powered system. Additionally, a method and computer readable media are provided for managing an amount of stored energy in a powered system.

    摘要: A method is provided for operating a train or rail vehicle along a railway which is logically divided into segments, and includes at least one control point presenting at least two possible paths that are exclusive of each other, each path including one or more segments. The method includes: (a) controlling the rail vehicle as it travels along the railway by reference to a one-dimensional representation of the segments prior to the control point; (b) determining which segment located immediately past the control point is to be occupied by the rail vehicle; (c) after the rail vehicle has traveled past the at least one control point, verifying which segment was occupied; (d) interlocking the occupied segment; (e) passing segment information to the rail vehicle; and (f) controlling the rail vehicle as it travels along the railway in reference to a one-dimensional representation of the segments past the control point.
