摘要: Embodiments for heating an emission control device are provided. In one example, a method for a turbocharged engine comprises during an engine cold-start, delivering boosted air from downstream of a compressor into a wastegate duct coupled across a turbine and exothermically reacting a reductant with the boosted air upstream of an exhaust emission control device. In this way, boosted air may be used to initiate an exothermic reaction to heat the device.

摘要: An exhaust-gas sampler is adapted to couple into an exhaust conduit and to sample a constituent of an engine exhaust flowing therein. The sampler comprises an envelope having upstream and downstream surfaces joined by a curved side surface. The upstream and downstream surfaces are each tangent to a plane substantially normal to a central axis of the exhaust conduit. A series of inlets are formed in the upstream surface, and an outlet is formed in the curved side surface. A sensor responsive to a level of the constituent in the exhaust is coupled in the envelope, at the peripheral region of the conduit.

摘要: An exhaust-gas sampler is adapted to couple into an exhaust conduit and to sample a constituent of an engine exhaust flowing therein. 摘要: A soot filter for removing soot from engine exhaust. The soot filter comprises an inlet, an outlet disposed opposite the inlet, a first corrugated layer having a first series of parallel ridges extending from the inlet to the outlet and aligned in a first direction, and a second corrugated layer having a second series of parallel ridges extending from the inlet to the outlet and aligned in a second direction. The second direction is oblique to the first direction, with the first series of parallel ridges being obliquely angled along an entire path from the inlet to the outlet. In this way, a variety of flow paths can be provided to increase particulate trapping.

摘要: A Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) injection system for mixing reductant with exhaust gasses. The system includes a plate disposed between walls of an entrance portion and an egress section of the exhaust pipe. The plate intercepts exhaust gasses entering the entrance section of the exhaust pipe and directs such exhaust gasses through apertures in a wall of a reductant-introducing conduit. The conduit has an outlet disposed in the egress section of the exhaust pipe. The wherein dimensions of the apertures in the wall and dimensions in the outlet of the conduit being selected to increase the velocity of the exhaust leaving the outlet of the conduit into the egress section of the exhaust pipe relative to the velocity of the exhaust gases in the entrance section.
