摘要: A process for separating a gas component from a gas mixture is disclosed. A gas mixture is passed through an adsorption zone which contains an adsorbent which will selectively adsorb a gaseous component from the gas mixture. The adsorption zone contains a layer of monolithic adsorbent and a layer of adsorption beads. Optionally, a third monolithic layer may be employed. The adsorption zone is typically contained in an adsorption vessel.

摘要: An improved method for preparing and activating monolith adsorbents is disclosed. A regeneration gas is passed through the formed monolith adsorbent at a temperature sufficient to decompose at least part of the binding agents in the adsorbent. The present invention also provides for the use of the treated adsorbent monoliths in separating gases in cyclical separation processes such as vacuum swing adsorption processes.

摘要: A method for concentrating a single gas component from a gas mixture is disclosed. The method utilizes concentration units and recovery units to concentrate the single gas component which is often at very low concentrations in the gas mixture. This method allows for the recovery of a valuable gas depending upon application such as oxygen and Ar-40.

摘要: Methods for recovering and recycling helium and unreacted chlorine from a process for manufacturing optical fiber are disclosed. Helium-rich and chlorine-rich gas streams are recovered from the consolidation furnace and separated. The helium-rich stream is dried and blended with make-up helium and the chlorine-rich stream is purified and blended with make-up chlorine so that each may be reused in the optical fiber production process.

摘要: Carbon dioxide is separated from gaseous hydrocarbons by a cyclic adsorption process using at a temperature in the range of about -50 to about 200.degree. C., wherein the adsorption step of the process is conducted by passing the gas mixture through an adsorption zone containing carbon molecular sieve or type A zeolite whose exchangeable cations are made up of about 50 to about 90% sodium ions and about 10 to about 50 percent potassium ions.

摘要: Proteins are prepared by the reaction of a hydrocarbon utilizing microbe on a low molecular weight hydrocarbon, such as methane, in an aqueous medium in the presence of oxygen and a fixable nitrogen compound in a recycle process in which unreacted hydrocarbon and oxygen are recycled to the protein manufacturing reactor. Sufficient hydrocarbon is introduced into the system to prevent the formation of a flammable mixture therein. Part or all of the hydrocarbon can be introduced into the system downstream of the protein reactor, where the propensity of forming a flammable gas mixture is greatest.

摘要: Petrochemicals are produced by the vapor phase reaction of a hydrocarbon with substantially pure oxygen in the presence of a suitable catalyst. In the improved process, the principal product is removed, carbon monoxide, present in the reactor effluent as a byproduct, is oxidized to carbon dioxide and part of the gaseous effluent, comprised mainly of carbon dioxide and unreacted hydrocarbon, is recycled to the reactor. Removal of carbon monoxide from the recycle stream reduces the hazard of a fire or explosion in the reactor or associated equipment. The use of carbon dioxide as the principal diluent increases heat removal from the reactor, thereby increasing the production capacity of the reactor.
