摘要： A facsimile apparatus includes a light emitting unit disposed downstream in the direction of feed of a document with respect to a normal plane perpendicular to the document surface on a reading line. Outgoing beams for reading travel rearward in a substantially horizontal direction. Incoming beams from the light emitting unit are reflected on the reading line on the document surface and are supplied as the outgoing beams for reading to a light sensing unit. Consequently, it is possible to reduce the height of the front portion of the facsimile apparatus so as to increase a degree of freedom in designing while enhancing reliability in reading the document.

摘要： A facsimile apparatus includes a main body frame, an operable cover plate for covering at least the front top of the main body frame, a separating roller for separating a document sheet attached to the main body frame and a document feeding mechanism for feeding a document sheet separated by the separating roller. All of the rollers in the document feeding mechanism are attached to the main body frame. Since all rollers of the document feeding mechanism are attached to the main body frame, it is not necessary that the cover plate have high rigidity. Consequently, the weight of the cover plate can be reduced, and the manufacturing cost of the cover plate can be reduced.

摘要： A facsimile machine has various detection devices. One of the detection device detects a sheet medium. The detection device includes a reflection type sensor directly mounted on a control board. An actuator is pivotally movably supported in a main frame of the facsimile machine. The actuator has a pivot shaft portion, a first arm and a second arm those extending from the pivot shaft portion. A free end of the first arm is abuttable on the sheet medium. If sheet medium is transferred to a predetermined portion, an edge of the sheet urges the free end to angularly rotate the actuator. A free end of the second arm is provided with a reflection member. The angular movement of the actuator causes the reflection member to be brought into confrontation with the reflection type sensor so as to detect passage of the sheet medium. A regulation member is integrally provided to the reflection member. The regulation member is brought into contact with the control board because of the gravity of the actuator, so that a given distance is provided between the reflection member and the reflection type sensor in the confronting state therebetween. The other sensor device may detects moving phase of a movable member. To this effect, the free end of the first arm is abuttable on the movable member.

Which resolution to select is determined and selection of the driving path is controlled by a selector based on the result of the determination.

摘要： In an insect pest attraction lighting system which irradiates a field with attraction light for attracting insect pests to keep the insect pests away from a plant, an effect of protection against diurnal insect pests is improved. An insect pest attraction lighting system 1 includes: a setting unit 2 which sets, as an operating time zone, an arbitrary time zone during nighttime; an artificial sunlight source unit 3 which irradiates the entirety of an interior of a plastic greenhouse H1 with artificial sunlight which does not include wavelength components of 500 to 600 nm, in the operating time zone; and an attraction light source unit 4 which irradiates a portion of the interior of the plastic greenhouse H1 with attraction light in the operating time zone. The irradiation of the artificial sunlight during nighttime increases the activity of diurnal insect pests B1, and the attraction light attracts the activity-increased diurnal insect pests B1, whereby the activity-increased diurnal insect pests B1 can be kept away from plants P1. Thus, protection against the diurnal insect pests B1 can positively be provided. In addition, since the artificial sunlight does not include light in a wavelength range of 500 to 600 nm which is reflected by the plants P1, it is made difficult for the diurnal insect pests B1 to visually recognize the plants P1, and therefore, an effect of protection against insects is enhanced further.

A UV light source repeats a light irradiation which has an irradiation pattern of combining a light irradiation, in which UV-C and UV-B and a visible light are superimposed, with a visible light irradiation alone at least twice a day. The emission of UV-B and UV-C enables the reliable inhibition of the spore formation of the filamentous fungi, for example. Its intermittent emission prevents a plant from getting too used to ultraviolet rays, promotes a generation of an antibacterial substance, for example, and prevents a leaf scorch. The continuous emission of the visible light enables a promotion of a growth of the plant.
