    摘要: An optical repeating system includes an optical transmitter and a plurality of optical amplifying repeaters. The optical transmitter specifies a part or all of the optical amplifying repeaters, and transmits a supervisory command to the specified optical amplifying repeaters as a first sub-signal via an uplink or downlink optical transmission line. The supervisory command is a command to supervise internal circuits of the optical amplifying repeaters. Receiving the supervisory command addressed thereto via the uplink or downlink optical transmission line, the optical amplifying repeaters each transmit a supervisory signal indicating a supervisory result corresponding to the supervisory command to optical receivers via the uplink and downlink optical transmission lines as a second sub-signal. The optical system can reduce the time take to acquire the supervisory information about the plurality of the optical amplifying repeaters.

    摘要: A supervisory system and supervisory method of an optical amplifier repeater are proposed that can implement operation supervision taking account of the characteristics of individual supervisory targets of the optical amplifier repeater, thereby achieving higher reliability. The supervisory system includes an optical transmitter for transmitting an optical signal including an operation command to notify of a state of a supervisory target; an optical amplifier repeater that transmits a response optical signal including a response code obtained by measuring the supervisory target in response to the operation command; an optical receiver for receiving the response optical signal via an optical fiber and an information processing unit for converting the response code into a numerical form by using a predetermined expression that links the response code with measured information obtained by measuring in advance the supervisory target with an external measuring device during operation of the optical amplifier repeater in response to the operation command.

    摘要: A sorting apparatus is composed of sort processors connected in a pipeline fashion. Each sort processor 106 merge sorts data from the preceding sort processor and then outputs the merge sort result to the succeeding sort processor. The sort processor includes sort core portions and a front end internal storage and a back end internal storage for the respective sort core portions. Outside the sort processors, there are added external memories for the respective sort core portions. The front and back end internal storages and the external memories constitute a local memory. The sort core portions use, when a faulty area is found in the local memory, part of the front end and back end internal storages as an alternative memory.

    摘要: A sheet feeding apparatus detects the position of a sheet (30) during feeding thereof and calculates a deviation of the detected sheet position relative to a reference position to thereby enable accurate color printing. A follower roller (41) for detecting a feeding amount of the sheet is in contact with the sheet which is fed by a sheet feeding roller 1, so that is rotated in accordance with the movement of the sheet. A sensor (43) generates an output signal each time the follower roller (41) rotates a predetermined angle of rotation. In one form of the invention, a timing deviation detector (51) is provided for detecting a deviation in the output timing of an output signal of the sensor relative to a reference value. In another form, a rotation angle deviation detector is provided for detecting a deviation in the rotation angle of the sheet feeding roller relative to a reference value each time the sensor generates an output signal. A feeding amount deviation calculator (52) periodically calculates a deviation in the amount of feeding of the sheet relative to a reference feeding amount based on the deviation in the output timing of the sensor output signal of based on the deviation in the rotation angle of the sheet feeding roller each time the follower roller rotates a predetermined rotation angle.

In one particular embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of hardware merge sorter cells are cascaded in series. With this arrangement, the hardware merge sorter can sort a plurality N.ltoreq.2.sup.n+2 number of records.
