摘要: Communication between a service switching point (SSP) and an external (or stand alone) Intelligent Peripheral (IP) has not been defined by any of the standard bodies. ITU-T Q.1600 and ETSI 300 374-1 defines the network configuration of SCP, SSP and stand-alone IP units using SS7 ISUP connection, but ITU-T Q.1600 and ETSI 300 374-1 does not specify in detail the SS7 ISUP messages for bi-directional communication between a SSP and an IP unit. This invention details the message flow between a SCP, a SSP and an ISUP IP unit, especially in the messages between the SSP and IP unit using SS7 ISUP protocol. With the signaling method of the present invention, SCP can send INAP operations, such as PA, PCUI to instruct an external IP unit to play an announcement or collect user information, then an IP unit can send back the related operations back to SCP. In this case, the resource of the IP unit can be shared by other switches and SSPs in the network.

摘要: A communication network is described that allows legacy devices to access an IMS network. The communication network includes a switching system, an IMS network, and a non-IMS network. The switching system includes a subscriber database that is pre-provisioned with identities of IMS subscribers using legacy devices. When in operation, a calling party places a call through a legacy device. The switching system receives the call and accesses the subscriber database based on a calling party identifier (e.g., a phone number, URL, etc) to determine if the calling party is an IMS subscriber. If the calling party is an IMS subscriber, then the switching system routes the call to the IMS network. If the calling party is not an IMS subscriber, then the switching system routes the call to the non-IMS network.

摘要: IMS networks and methods are disclosed for securing media streams for IMS sessions. A CSCF of an IMS network receives a registration message, such as a SIP Register message, from user equipment (UE) of an IMS subscriber indicating whether the UE supports media security. The CSCF then forwards a registration message, such as a Diameter MAR, to a subscriber database that includes a header parameter also indicating that the UE supports media security. A media security system generates media security information (e.g., algorithms, keys, etc), and the subscriber database transmits a response message, such as a Diameter MAA, to the CSCF that includes a header parameter for the media security information. The CSCF transmits a response message, such as a SIP 200 OK message, to the UE that includes a header parameter for the media security information. The UE may use the media security information to secure media streams.

摘要: Charging systems and associated methods are disclosed that provide interim billing for a session in an IMS network. The charging system includes a charging data system that receives accounting messages from network elements serving the session in the IMS network, and generates partial CDRs for each network element based on the accounting messages. The charging data system also sets an aggregation/correlation timer. Responsive to an expiration of the aggregation/correlation timer, the charging data system aggregates the partial CDRs for each network element to generate an aggregated CDR for each network element. The charging system further includes a charging gateway system that, in further response to the expiration of the aggregation/correlation timer, correlates the aggregated CDRs to generate an interim consolidated CDR for the session, and transmits the interim consolidated CDR to a billing system. The billing system may then provide interim billing for the session based on the interim consolidated CDR.

摘要: Communication networks and methods are disclosed for performing online charging in LTE/EPC communication networks. In an LTE/EPC communication network, one or more LTE network elements connect to an Online Charging System (OCS) over an enhanced interface. The LTE network element that is serving a session for a mobile device triggers on a charging event, and generates a credit request message (e.g., Diameter CCR). The LTE network element identifies access information for the session indicating the type of access for the mobile device to the LTE/EPC communication network, and inserts the access information in the credit request message. Through the enhanced interface, the LTE network element is able to transmit the credit request message to the OCS with the access information. The access information may then be used in the OCS to determine a more accurate charging rate for the session.

摘要: A user equipment determines a set of licensed and unlicensed frequency bands that are available for wireless communication. The user equipment selects a first subset of the set as targets for a handover involving at least one unlicensed frequency band and transmits information indicating the first subset. A base station receives information indicating a first subset of a set of licensed and unlicensed frequency bands. The first subset are targets for a handover of user equipment involving at least one unlicensed frequency band. The base station selects a second subset based on the first subset and transmits information indicating the second subset.
