摘要: To provide a fuel cell and an oxidant distributing plate for the fuel cell. A water created in the fuel cell is used to humidify an oxidant gas and/or a fuel flowing in an opposite passage opposite to a MEA. The fuel cell includes a MEA 1, an oxidant distributing plate 3 disposed facing to an oxidant pole for supplying an oxidant gas thereto, and a fuel distributing plate 4 disposed facing to an fuel pole for supplying the fuel thereto. At least one of the oxidant distributing plate 3 and the fuel distributing plate 4 is provided with an opposite passage 31, 41 formed on an opposite surface opposite to the MEA, and a reaction passage 32, 42 formed on a facing surface facing to the MEA, and communicated with the opposite passage 31, 41.

摘要: To provide a fuel cell and an oxidant distributing plate for the fuel cell. 摘要: A fuel cell (10) includes a lamination (11) of a plurality of unit cells (30), current collector plates (12, 12) arranged at both ends of the lamination (11), end plates 16, 16 respectively provided outside the current collector plates (12, 12) with 5 insulating plates (14, 14) interposed therebetween, and fastening members (18) for fastening the end plates (16, 16) in the laminating direction to apply desired pressing force to the lamination (11). A barcode (41) corresponding to particular information relating to a unit cell (30) is provided on the exposed side surface of a separator (38) of the unit cell (30). According to this fuel cell (10), the barcode 41 can be easily read requiring no disassembly of the fuel cell (10). Moreover, as the information relating to the fuel cell can be obtained from the barcode (41), the information that cannot be determined from outer appearance can be obtained, resulting in improved service operations.

摘要: In a fuel cell separator, reaction gas fluid grooves form a serpentine fuel gas flow path wherein a plurality of parallel flow paths reverse directions at multiple stages, and the ratio of a fluid groove width to a ridge width downstream along the fluid path is larger than the ratio upstream along the path. Furthermore, the ridge area per unit area is larger upstream than downstream along the fluid path. Uniformity inside a fuel cell is as a result enhance, to enable more efficient and stable operation.

Each separator (3) has a plurality of contact lugs (65, 75) facing the electrodes and contacting the electrodes at pre-set contact widths and a plurality of fluid ducts (6a, 7a) each having a space between neighboring ones of the contact lugs (65, 75) as a duct width. The contact width of the contact lugs 65 (75) on a side closer to a fluid outlet is set smaller than that of the contact lugs 65 (75) on a side closer to a fluid inlet. Diffusion of an active material in an active material containing fluid into the inside of electrodes on a downstream side of a fluid duct, that is on a side closer to a fluid outlet, is facilitated.

This makes it possible to add an odor to the fuel gas without poisoning an electrode catalyst and an electrolyte, and to prevent the odor from remaining in an exhaust gas emitted from the fuel cell.

摘要: A fuel cell includes a plurality of laminated gas chambers, a plurality of separators that separate the gas chambers, intake passages for supplying fuel gas and oxidizing gas, exhaust passages for emitting the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas, intake ports to supply fuel gas and oxidizing gas from the intake passages to the gas chambers, exit ports to exit the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas from the gas chambers to the exhaust passages, and rectifying plates located at one end of the intake ports and extending across at least one of the gas intake passages. Each of the rectifying plates effectively restricts direct gas flow from one of the intake passages to the intake ports. Therefore, the number of gas chambers can be increased as compared to conventional fuel cells. Even though the number of gas chambers is increased, each gas chamber uniformly receives gas due to the excellent gas distribution achieved by the rectifying plates.

摘要: Gas passages of a gas-passage plate disposed between fuel cells are improved, in order to enhance gas utilization efficiency and output performance. The supply-gas passages formed on the gas-passage plate on a surface to face one gaseous diffusion electrode comprise an inlet-side channel part, an outlet-side channel part, and an intermediate channel part which connects the inlet-side channel part and the outlet-side channel part. The inlet-side channel part and the outlet-side channel part are lattice-shaped passages. The intermediate channel part has the shape of being folded plural times, and comprises groups of a plurality of straight independent passages, and lattice-shaped passages formed at portions returning from one independent-passages group to the next independent-passages group.

摘要: A fuel cell includes a cell stack formed by stacking a plurality of cells, each cell having a membrane electrode assembly having an electrolyte membrane and an electrode provided at each side of the electrolyte membrane, a flow channel for supplying fluid to the electrode, and separators each having a flow path from the flow channel to outside the fuel cell stack, a pair of terminals provided so as one terminal is positioned at one end of the cell stack and the other terminal is positioned at the other end of the cell stack, a pair of pressure plates provided for sandwiching and fastening the cell stack from outside the terminals, each pressure plate including an inlet/outlet hole connected to the flow path, and a pipe member connected to the flow path, the pipe member being made of a corrosion resistant material, and including a pipe portion inserted into the inlet/outlet hole, and a flange portion at the cell stack side of one of the pressure plates. One of the terminals has an accommodating portion for accommodating the pipe member, and a gap is formed between the flange portion of the pipe member and the cell stack under a zero contacting condition when a pressure load of the pair of the pressure plates is zero, in which any one of the members of the cell stack and the terminal provided between the pressure plates is in contact with the neighboring member.
