    摘要: A recording head performing recording with thermal energy and having a temperature sensor. The sensor measures the temperature of the recording head with minimal susceptibility to common mode noise. The sensor includes a p-n junction of a semiconductor provided inside the recording head. Temperature detection is performed by converting a first voltage value at a P-side portion of the sensor and a second voltage value at a N-side portion of the sensor into respective digital data. A difference data of the respective digital data is calculated. Based on the difference data, the temperature of the recording head can be determined.

    摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus modifies backlash correction data in accordance with changes in weight of a carriage, and reduces the printing disturbance due to the backlash by controlling the recording timing on the basis of the modified correction data. Also, a user is notified of the reduced ink remains in the ink jet recording apparatus by the reduced density of a printed image, and at the same time, the apparatus maximizes the number of sheets that can be recorded with the remaining ink in order to prevent any unrecorded data from being lost. Further, an ink jet recording apparatus according to the present invention makes it possible to curtail any ink consumption more than necessary by setting the amount of exhausted ink as required for the execution of a discharge recovery process by counting the number of dischargings at the time of recording a given amount. Also, when controlling power for a recording apparatus, the temperature rise is predicted from the number of drivings at the time of recording on a given area, and when the temperature rise is conspicuous, the driving frequency is reduced in order to suppress the heat generation of the apparatus.

    摘要: A liquid jet recording apparatus includes an ink container. A pair of electrodes are provided to be immersed in the ink in the container. By applying a voltage between the electrodes, the remainder of the ink is detected by a change in the electric resistance between the electrodes. The voltage application is not continuous but is intermittent and is performed at a predetermined time associated with the recording operation (at the time of carriage reversal) to detect the remainder of the ink. When the ink remainder detecting operation is not performed, the voltage is not applied to the electrodes. During a stand-by period the execution of the remainder of ink detection process is carried out only once to prevent degradation of the ink caused by electrolysis.

    摘要: In order to prevent change in the properties of recording liquid such as surface tension, viscosity, etc. a recording head is provided with an integral temperature sensor. The temperature controlling operation is performed in response to an output of the temperature sensor to maintain the recording liquid within a predetermined temperature range. In order to correct the variation in the properties of the individual temperature sensors, the main apparatus contains a reference temperature sensor. The temperature sensor of the recording head is corrected in its output on the basis of comparison between the temperature sensors. The recording head is provided with information representative of a property of the temperature sensor of the recording head. By the mounting of the recording head into the apparatus, the information is read, and the output of the temperature sensor is corrected on the basis of the read information.
