A single light beam having two lightwave components with a phase difference that changes in time is divided so that one lightwave component is applied to the object and the other lightwave component is applied to a reference surface. The lightwave components for the object and the reference surface are interfered with each other and a change in the interference light is detected.

    摘要: Semiconductor-laser length measuring apparatus includes first and second semiconductor lasers that oscillate in different wavelength regions. A frequency modulator modulates the oscillation frequency of the first semiconductor laser and a light beam splitter divides the first and second light beams output from the first and second semiconductor lasers into third, fourth, fifth and sixth light beams which are projected onto and are reflected from an object to be measured. The phase difference between the third and fourth light beams and the phase difference between the fifth and sixth light beams are detected and the difference in optical paths between the divided light beams is obtained according to the detection result. Incremental measurements are performed by obtaining the optical path difference between the divided laser light beams, for example, a difference between a beat signal produced from interference between the third and fourth laser light beams or from interference between the fifth and sixth laser light beams and an oscillation frequency driving the first and second modulators. The apparatus may be arranged to switch to incremental measurement after a measurement of the absolute optical path difference.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a sheet finisher, which receives sheets from an image forming apparatus, such as an electro-photographic copying machine, a printer, a facsimile, etc., to align and bind the sheets. There is described a sheet finisher which includes a conveyance roller pair to convey the sheets, an intermediate stacker to stack the sheets, an aligning device to align the sheets stacked on the intermediate stacker, a binder to bind the sheets stacked and aligned on the intermediate stacker, an ejector to convey and eject the sheets bound by the binder, a driver to drive the aligning device, a controller to control the driver and an overlapped sheets conveying device to grip and convey two sheets. In the sheet finisher, the controller controls the driver in a manner such that the aligning device aligns an initial one sheet stacked on the intermediate stacker under a first aligning condition, while the aligning device aligns two overlapped sheets under a second aligning condition.

    摘要: An apparatus for measuring a shape, such as a cylindrical shape, and an apparatus for measuring system errors of that apparatus are provided. When a cylindrical light wavefront is made incident on an object to be measured and the shape of the object to be measured is measured by utilizing the interference fringes produced on the basis of a difference between the cylindrical light wavefront and the surface shape of the object to be measured, measurement is conducted at least three times beforehand under different light wavefront incident conditions on the predetermined object to be measured, and the system errors of the entire apparatus are calculated using the interference fringe data obtained in these three measurement operations. The errors generated in subsequent measurement operations can be corrected using the obtained system errors.
