    摘要: A green tire building process wherein a cylindrical belt (B) comprising a tread (A) and a breaker (3) are applied around a toroidally shaped tire carcass (1) on a tire carcass building drum (13) to assemble a green tire. The breaker cushions (6) are fit to the inner circumferential surfaces of the opposite edge portions of the breaker (3) prior to applying the belt (B) around the tire carcass (1). The breaker cushions are fit to the breaker by first winding the cushions around axial end portions of a belt forming drum in a manner such that the diameter of the radially inner peripheral surfaces of the breaker cushions decrease in diameter towards the axially outer extremities of the drum and the radially outer surfaces of the cushions are generally flat. Then the breaker and tread are wound onto the breaker cushions to form the belt which is later removed from the belt forming drum before being applied onto the tire carcass.

While the drum is rotating, a fluid cylinder is elongated so as to press the first and second stitch roller members against an outer circumferential surface of the tread, and roller elements of the respective stitch roller members are moved away from each other from a center portion of the outer circumferential surface of the tread to opposite ends thereof so as to widen a spacing between the roller elements.

    摘要: A green tire forming apparatus has a driving section (2) and a forming section (1) supported by a shaft extended from the driving section (2). A center former section (10) of the forming section (1) has a pair of first former elements (11A), (11B) and a pair of second former elements (12A), (12B) arranged at the outside of the first former elements so as to be movable in an axial direction. The total width of the center former section can be shortened to about one fourth of the maximum. According to the apparatus, during green carcass formation, the width of the center former section (10) can be set as the required one, and during toroidal shaping, the width can be shortened to about one fourth of the maximum, whereby a distance (BW.sub.3) between beads can be made close to that of a metal mold. As a result, generation of wrinkles during tire formation is largely decreased and tire quality can be improved.
