There is provided a cam follower in which a surface roughness of an outer surface of a roller of a cam follower which is in rolling contact with a cam of an engine is obtained individually in an axial direction and a circumferential direction, a skewness Rsk of a profile is formed to be negative, a core roughness depth Rk is made to be 0.3 or less, a reduced valley depth Rvk is made to be 0.3 or less, and a ratio Rk/Rt of the Rk to a maximum height Rt of the profile is made to be 0.19 or more.

The invention provides a cam follower having an outer ring which is used in a state where the cam follower comes into sliding contact or rolling contact with a mating part. The outer ring is configured such that the hardness of a surface layer portion existing between the surface and at least 3 μm below the surface is Hv 780 to 900, and the hardness of an internal surface portion existing at a depth of 10 μm or more from the surface is lower than the hardness of the surface layer portion and less than Hv 780. Such hardness can be obtained by performing soft shot blasting or flow barrel processing on a surface layer portion of a base material to be the outer ring.

An object is to provide a laminated polyimide substrate, and a method for the production thereof, in which various properties are ensured and/or provided by effectively controlling changes over time under stringent conditions, while ensuring sufficient adhesion between a polyimide film and metal layer. A laminated polyimide substrate comprises a polyimide layer, an alkali-treated layer derived from the polyimide layer, and a metal layer, arranged in that order, wherein the alkali-treated layer contains an anionic functional group, and is a laminated structure having a layer containing a metal catalyst arranged on the metal layer side and a layer containing a complex of the metal catalyst arranged on the polyimide layer side.
