摘要: System and method for code acquisition in a wireless communications system with a delay lock loop. A preferred embodiment comprises assigning a delay lock loop (DLL) to each path in a received signal with multipath, adjusting each DLL to maximize sample strength, grouping samples that are less than a first threshold apart into groups, adjusting DLL timing of samples in groups, regrouping groups that are less than a second threshold apart, applying a group decision to regrouped groups, and repeating the regrouping and applying until all groups are greater than the second threshold apart.

摘要: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for choosing a network for connection and handover based on the application requirements of a multi-mode, multi-radio user equipment. The selection of the network for connectivity and handover is based on one or more of the invoking of an application, the invoking of a second application, and the closing of an application.

摘要: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are provided for decision-making criteria in a multi-mode, multi-radio user equipment to choose which radio network to use for connectivity and handover. Decision making depends on a number of different criteria: a user profile that specifies one or more user preference connectivity attributes, available applications of the user equipment, a service subscription of a user associated with the user equipment, a battery monitor of the user equipment, a respective link metrics indicator for each of the plurality of access networks, and application support capabilities of the plurality of access networks.

摘要: Time tracking units with decision statistics mitigating or correcting for influences from nearby interfering paths. Interference mitigation is accomplished by appropriately selecting the parameters of the time tracking unit so that the contribution of the interference on the decision statistics of the time tracking unit is minimized. Interference cancellation is accomplished by evaluating and subtracting of the effect from the interfering paths on the decision statistics of the time tracking unit. Both urban and indoor communications may incorporate the interference avoidance or interference correction either in each time tracking unit of a rake-type receiver by inter-unit communication of timing adjustments and path energies or by software within a common processor.

摘要: A multi-rate data receiver includes a decoding section for processing the received encoded data symbols via multiple paths to make a determination as to the rate of the received data. A statistical analysis is made of the incoming data prior to decoding, and rate selection made among one of the multiple highest rates. If the determination is not that the data is associated with the highest rate, the data is processed through multiple parallel decoding paths and the decoded data on the output thereof evaluated to determine which of the multiple paths is acceptable and associated with the incoming data rate.

摘要: A system and method for adjusting the power control target for a spread-spectrum communication system 110 is disclosed. A preferred embodiment comprises correcting a power control target 128 based upon the difference between a filtered series of actual error signals 124 and the expected number of errors 126 over a properly determined time window. By using a filtered series of actual error signals, the power control target update step-size is adaptive to the channel conditions, and the power-rise is reduced, thereby reducing power requirements and signal dropouts. The invention finds application, for example, in personal communication devices such as cellular telephones and may be implemented using a digital signal processor (DSP).

摘要: A system and method for maintaining timing in a CDMA rake receiver has a global chip counter that counts CDMA signal chips as they arrive at the CDMA rake receiver. A local pseudo-noise (PN) sequence replica of the incoming CDMA signal is generated and used to perform a sliding window correlation of the locally generated PN sequence replica with the incoming signal to correlate the CDMA signal timing relative to stored CDMA signal chip counts. The PN sequence timing is maintained relative to GCC, which avoids having to keep track of absolute time within each Rake finger.

摘要: Multiple PN sequences are generated in parallel using multiple LFSRs (10) or multiple mask circuits (40) coupled to a single LFSR. The offsets between PN sequences can be individually and independently set, either by setting the initial state in an LFSR (10) or setting a mask vector in a mask circuit (40). The LFSRs can be configured in real time to produce one or more blocks of PN sequence bits or to produce disjoint PN sequence bits. Zero insertion may be automatically generated in the LFSRs without additional mask circuitry. PN generating circuits may use either relative or absolute addressing, and may accommodate two levels of relative addressing. Further, one embodiment provides relative addressing without using masks.
