    摘要: A data processor receives sets of input image data having respective input grays and outputs sets of output image data having respective output grays. Each set of output image data corresponds to one of the plurality of sets of input image data and have more image data than each set of the input image data. A data driver supplies the pixels with data voltages corresponding to the output image data supplied from the data processor. A set of output grays corresponding to a set of input grays are selected from sets of grays, each set of grays giving an average front transmittance substantially equal to an average front transmittance of the set of input grays. The sets of output grays generate the closest average lateral gamma curve generated by the sets of grays relative to an average front gamma curve generated by the input grays.

    摘要: A driving apparatus driving method of a flat panel (e.g., LCD) display device. The driving apparatus of the display device includes: a data processor that selects a (at least) two of output gray levels (output image data ) based on an input gray level (of received image data) and outputs the two output grays for each pixel to a data driver that selects two gray (reference) voltages corresponding to the output image data output from the data processor and applies the gray (reference) voltages to the pixels as data voltages. The first output gray level may be less than the second output gray level, and less than the input gray level. The first and second output gray level (and thus the first and second output grays) applied to the pixel as data voltages are optically averaged at the pixel, to have the same (average) transmittance as the original input gray level. A gray voltage generator generates and outputs a plurality of gray (reference) voltages for selection by the data driver. At least one of the plurality of gray (reference) voltages may have a value less than a liquid crystal threshold voltage.

    摘要: A transreflective LCD includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, each including a switching element, a backlight for supplying light to the pixels, and first, second, third, and fourth capacitors which are individually connected to output terminals of the switching elements. Each pixel includes a transmissive area for transmitting light from the backlight, and a first reflective area and a second reflective area for reflecting light originating from the exterior environment. In this way, the reflective area is divided into two areas and the auxiliary capacitor is provided in one area of the two. The gamma curves of the transmissive mode and the reflective mode can meet together at a curve by controlling the dimension ratio and the voltage ratio of the two areas. In this way, color display showing uniform color sense can be realized without regard to changes in mode.
