A method of manufacturing the polarizing glass article including elongated metal particles dispersed and oriented therein comprise; a preparing process in which a mother glass including metal ions is prepared; a reducing process in which the mother glass is heated at the lower temperature than the glass transition point temperature to be reduced at least a part of the metal ions for enough time to turn the metal ions into metal particles; a precipitating process in which the mother glass after the reducing process is heated at the higher temperature than the glass transition point temperature so that metal particles are precipitated; and an elongating process in which the mother glass after the precipitating process is heated and elongated.
Abstract:
There is provided a manufacturing method of polarizing glass in which a time required for a reducing step is shortened. The manufacturing method of polarizing glass includes steps of precipitating metal halide dispersed within glass into a predetermined particle size to form glass preform after melting the glass containing the metal halide, elongating the glass preform after heating up to predetermined temperature to form a glass sheet and reducing the metal halide particles within the glass sheet at temperature higher than melting point of the metal halide.
Abstract:
There is provided polarizing glass having a high extinction ratio in a broad band. A manufacturing method of the polarizing glass containing elongated metal particles dispersed and oriented within glass includes an elongation step of forming mother glass after heat-treatment into a preform, of heating the preform at such temperature that the viscosity of the glass becomes about 1×108 to 1×1014 poise, of applying stress of about 200 kg/cm2 to 500 kg/cm2 to the preform while moving the preform within an electric furnace with feeding speed of 10 mm/min. or less and of elongating the preform as an elongated sheet with pulling speed of 150 mm/min. or less by which an aspect ratio of halogenated metal particles contained in the preform becomes from 2 to 1 to 100 to 1 and a reduction step of reducing the elongated sheet for enough time for transforming at least a part of the halogenated metal particles into metal particles at temperature higher than the strain point temperature of the mother glass and lower than the transition point temperature of the mother glass.

Abstract:
A power transmission system has a Neidhart structure in which a damper is shearing-deformed while being press-deformed when torque is applied to a pulley. The torque is transmitted from the pulley to a center hub by the reaction force in response to a vector component of the deformation of the damper, parallel to the pulley rotation direction, while a torque fluctuation is reduced by the deformation of the damper. Thereby, it is possible to set an elasticity modulus of the damper to be smaller. Therefore, it is possible to provide a compact power transmission system having a reduced torque fluctuation.

A laminated structure composed of (A) a layer comprising a polyester resin, (B) a layer comprising a cured (meth)acrylate polymer containing an epoxy group in the molecule, and (C) a layer comprising a cured organopolysiloxane compound, the layers (A), (B) and (C) being laminated in this sequence. The laminated structure is suitable for use in a safety glass, for example.
Abstract:
In a pattern generating system for scanning a pattern on a surface of a workpiece with a laser beam modulated by drawing data so as to form a pattern corresponding to design pattern data, a plurality of through holes are formed at predetermined positions of the workpiece. Beams transmitted through the through holes are directed to a sensor for generating a detection output representing positions of the transmitted beams. A computer generates position data of the through holes on the basis of the detection output and calculates a positional error and a deformation amount of the workpiece. A correcting device corrects the drawing on the basis of the positional error and the deformation amount.

A disk drive. The disk drive includes a disk and a head-slider. The head-slider includes an air-bearing surface. The air-bearing surface includes a trailing-edge rail surface, an inner trailing-edge pad, and an outer trailing-edge pad. The pad surface of the outer trailing-edge pad includes a straight outer edge slanting outward; and, the angle of the outer edge with respect to the longitudinal direction of the head-slider is β1. The pad surface of the inner trailing-edge pad includes a straight inner edge slanting inward; and, the angle of the inner edge with respect to the longitudinal direction of the head-slider is β2. For absolute values of skew angles at an outermost data track position and an innermost data track position on the disk that are denoted by α1 and α2, respectively, the following conditions are satisfied: α2≦β1,α1+β1≦90°, and α1≦β2,α2+β2≦90°.
