摘要: A ferroelectric liquid crystal panel is prepared by injecting a ferroelectric liquid crystal into a liquid crystal panel through a process including at least four steps, i.e., a first step of reducing a pressure and evacuating gas within the liquid crystal panel, a second step of applying the ferroelectric liquid crystal to an injection port of the liquid crystal panel, a third step of causing the liquid crystal to enter into the liquid crystal panel under an increasing pressure, and a fourth step of completing injection of the liquid crystal into the liquid crystal panel under an elevated pressure. In the process, the liquid crystal panel is held at a higher temperature in the first step than in the second step. As a result, it is possible to obtain a ferroelectric liquid crystal panel which contains a ferroelectric liquid crystal at a sufficiently high packing density, free from occurrence of voids even after standing at a low temperature and has a uniform alignment state over the entire panel area.

摘要: A liquid crystal device is constituted by a pair of oppositely spaced substrate each having on its opposite surface a group of stripe electrodes disposed to intersect with those disposed on the other substrate, and a liquid crystal disposed between the substrates so as to be driven by a voltage applied through the stripe electrodes. The group of stripe electrodes on at least one of the pair of substrates are formed through a lithographic step including dividing the stripe electrodes into at least two divisions at a line parallel (or perpendicular) to the extension of the stripe electrodes, and repeating a pattern exposure for each division of the stripe electrodes so as to dispose a joint between the divisions of the stripe electrodes at a non-display part including a spacing between two stripe electrode on the same substrate (or at a part in alignment with a non-display part including a spacing between two stripe electrodes on the opposite substrate). In an embodiment, the liquid crystal device is provided with a dummy electrode pattern for promoting the liquid crystal injection.

摘要: A color liquid crystal device is constituted by a pair of rectangular substrates disposed opposite to each other to form a cell structure having a liquid crystal injection port, and a liquid crystal injected into the cell structure through the liquid crystal injection port. The pair of rectangular substrates includes a first substrate provided with a color filter and stripe electrodes disposed on the color filter and a second substrate provided with stripe electrodes disposed opposite to and intersecting the stripe electrodes on the first substrate. On each rectangular substrate, the stripe electrodes are divided into two groups which are electrically connected to external drive circuits disposed along one and the other, respectively, of mutually opposite sides of the rectangular substrate. The liquid crystal injection port is disposed at one of mutually opposite sides parallel to the stripe electrodes on the first substrate.

摘要: A photosensor array comprises a substrate, a photoconductive layer and electrode layers between which the photoconductive layer is provided, wherein an opaque electroconductive layer is provided at a side opposite to a side to which a signal light is projected, and an insulating layer intervenes between the opaque electroconductive layer and the combination of the electrodes and the photoconductive layer. In a photosensor array of a matrix driving type using a multilayer wiring, an insulating layer between electrodes at the multilayer wiring portion and a protective insulating layer at a photoelectric transducer portion are continuously formed by using the same material.

摘要: Two rows or three rows of shutter apertures are arranged in mutually staggered fashion to form a shutter array element. In the case of two rows of shutter apertures, the distance between adjacent shutter apertures in each row is set to be 1.22-2.0 times the length of one shutter aperture in the direction of extension of each row of the shutter apertures, while, in the case of three rows of shutter apertures, the distance between adjacent shutter apertures in each row is 2.4-3.3 times the length of one aperture in the direction of each row. When this shutter array element is used as a light signal generating means for an electrophotographic printer, improvement in quality of images can be attained.
