Abstract:
The invention is a device for the introduction of a fluid into a human's airway. The air so introduced has a carefully modulated envelope of pressure vs. time, this envelope generally consisting of sequences of pressurized air packets of controlled frequency and pressures. The device produces these packets by means of pressurized air occluded by a shutter action which “chops” and interrupts the fluid stream. The vibrations induced by the device within human organs have been shown to have beneficial effects on various bodily systems, such as increase in heart rate variability, increase in absorbed oxygen, decrease in absorbed CO2, and the like.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a device for administering intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) and Protocols of Artificially Induced Oscillations (PAIO) useful in alleviating peripheral circulatory disorders of a treated organ, comprising a wearable body portion enclosure (BPE) adapted to contact said treated organ, said BPE comprising: one or more balloons adapted to be inflated and deflated for creating said IPC; one or more pressure sources in fluid communication with said balloons by way of one or more valves; one or more vibrating elements adapted to produce PAIO; a controlling unit adapted to operate said pressure sources, and to operate said vibrating elements. The IPC and PAIO may be individually administered to said treated organ according to predetermined protocols.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a portable device and method for enhancing blood flow in a limb and for reducing the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) formation by applying periodic squeezing forces on a limb, in particular a lower limb. The device comprises a flask-like casing box and a strap connected to opposite sides of said casing such as to form a closed loop around the limb. Said box contains machinery for actuating periodical change in the circumference of said closed loop between a contracted and a relaxed positions.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a portable device for enhancing circulation in a limb comprising at least one strap for encircling the limb, a motor and a mechanism driven by said motor for intermittently actuating a first transition from a relaxed state to a strained state of the strap and a second transition from the strained state to the relaxed state. The mechanism includes at least one energy storing element operatively disposed between the motor and the strap and at least one energy releasing mechanism coupling between the energy storing element and the strap. The energy releasing mechanism enables fast release of energy stored in said storing element and the use of the energy so released to effectuate at least one abrupt transition between said relaxed and strained states.
Abstract:
A sleeve for use with a circulation enhancement device, including a first layer that is adapted to substantially encircle a user's limb, a second layer that is adapted to interface the circulation enhancement device, a connection between the first layer and the second layer at a preset position; and wherein the second layer is adapted to be attached to various position along the circumference of the first layer and at least partially encircle the first layer.

Abstract:
An air delivery device (ADD) for applying fluid pressure pulses (FPP) to the mouth cavity of a patient at a predetermined frequency according to a protocol The ADD, comprises: a) an air blower for blowing air into a pressure chamber via a first opening (inlet); b) airflow occluding means (AOM) provided in fluid communication with said pressure chamber; said AOM located between said first opening and a second opening (outlet) of said pressure chamber; c) a patient mouthpiece or Face Mask, in fluid communication with said second opening (outlet); and, d) means for controlling AOM, adapted to interrupt and release said airflow at a predetermined frequency and pressure, thereby applying said FPPs to the mouth cavity of a patient according to a predetermined protocol during operation.
Abstract:
A portable limb-mounted device for enhancing blood and/or lymph flow in a limb and/or for preventing stasis related disorders, the device comprising an energy generating device, an actuator, one or more compressing elements for generating squeezing forces on the limb of a user, a sensor located adjacent to the body of the user and coupled to a transceiver device, and a transceiver device coupled to the sensor to receive signals generated by the sensor, to transfer the signals received from the sensor device to a computing device. The device further comprises a computerized control system including a microcontroller and a memory device to store activity related information for subsequent downloads to an external computer-based monitoring device.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a non-invasive rigid-support enhanced external counterpulsation device (RS-EECP) providing a precise onset of a blood flow characterized by a sharp-wave front, useful for out-patient treatment of arterial insufficiency states, especially angina; said RS-EECP comprising a timing means and a plurality of pressing cuffs; said timing means is adapted to onset the collapsing and expanding maneuvers of the cuffs in a sequence of occasions defined along the diastolic/systolic cycle; said cuffs are fastened around at least a portion of the circumference of at least one organ comprising a vascular bed to counterpulsate against an either fixed or maneuverable support; wherein said support is a rigid member; so as a quick expansion of said vessel bed, following a forceful and effective collapsing of the same is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a device for enhancing circulation by intermittently tightening and relaxing a closure encircling a limb. The device comprises a continuously operating motor, at least one rotating element and a mechanism driven by the motor for intermittently rotating the rotating element in a first direction to tighten said closure and in a second opposite direction to relax said closure, thereby applying a cyclic pressure on the limb.
