    Abstract: An F-connector for terminating the end of a coaxial drop cable includes a tubular post and fastening nut, along with a modified form of body member. The body member outer wall includes a series of annular ridges, and the end of the body member includes a beveled surface. The F-connector includes a collar assembly that incorporates a gripping ring. The collar assembly has a central passage for receiving the end of the coaxial cable. One end of the collar assembly has an internal bore of a diameter commensurate with the outer diameter of the body member; the internal bore also has annular ridges formed thereon which frictionally engage the ridges on the outer wall of the body member. A compression tool longitudinally compresses the collar assembly over the body member during installation, causing the beveled surface of the body member to cam the gripping ring inwardly toward the tubular post, securing the outer jacket and conductive braid of the coaxial cable therebetween.

    Abstract: A hard disk drive apparatus is disclosed which utilizes at least a pair of actuator assemblies each of which includes a plurality of separate actuator arms and spacers stacked on a tubular sleeve which is bearing supported on a stationary actuator shaft. The arms and spacers are preferably ceramic with head leads and preamplifiers carried on the arm. Each actuator stack has heads oriented in only one direction to minimize the spacing between the hard disks.The head disk assembly is built up on the baseplate by installation of layers of actuator arms, spacers and hard disks. The assembled head disk assembly is enclosed between the generally flat baseplate and a top plate by a peripheral housing therearound.The disks are rotated by a dual stator motor located between the baseplate and the top plate with one stator mounted to the baseplate and the other stator mounted to the top plate.

    Abstract: Improved insulator configurations are provided for retarding corrosion of the central conductor pin of a coaxial cable connector. In a first embodiment of the invention, the distal end of the dielectric which surrounds the pin is provided with a domed protuberance which deflects liquid away from the pin. As a result, there is no surface tension to hold droplets of liquid at the distal end of the connector, and no chance of electrolytic bridging between the conductor pin and the outer body of the connector when the connector extends horizontally through the entry port of a electrical device. In a second embodiment, the dielectric is provided with a tubular extension portion which forms an insulator sheath around the central conductor pin, thus preventing bridging even when the connector is oriented vertically and the distal end of the outer body is submerged in liquid.

    Abstract: A tamper-resistant terminator includes a connector body rotatably encapsulated within a shield. A port in the shield receives a terminal of a cable transmission system therethrough for rotational engagement with a threaded bore within the connector body. Another port in the shield provides access to a socket defined by a smooth continuous cylindrical surface. The socket and the threaded bore extend in opposite directions along a longitudinal axis about which the shield is freely rotatable. A tool includes a tubular shaft having a knurled portion at the free end extends from a first handle section. A disc residing adjacent the end of the tubular shaft is carried by a shaft rotatably journaled with the tubular shaft and drivingly engaged with a second handle section. In response to relative rotation between the handle sections the disc and the knurled section of the tubular shaft move between a concentric position for telescoping movement within the socket of the connector body and an eccentric position for driving engagement with the socket.

    Abstract: A compression type coaxial cable F-connector includes a conventional coupling nut and tubular post. A cylindrical body member is secured to the tubular post and includes a sleeve for receiving the jacket of the coaxial cable. A circular relief in the sleeve allows the end of such sleeve to be deformed inwardly toward the cable jacket. A compression ring is mounted over the outer wall of the sleeve of the cylindrical body member and includes a tapered inner bore which forces the end of the sleeve inwardly against the cable jacket as the compression ring is advanced axially over the cylindrical body member. As the end of the sleeve is deformed inwardly, it extends just behind a circular barb formed about the tubular post to pinch the cable jacket therebetween. The compression ring can be manufactured as a separate component, or the compression ring can initially be integral with the sleeve of the cylindrical body member and attached thereto by a frangible connection.

    Abstract: A coaxial cable F-connector (20) includes a tubular post (32) for insertion around the dielectric (26) of the coaxial cable (22), a cylindrical body member (46) secured to the tubular post for receiving the jacket (30) of the coaxial cable, and a coupling nut (38).
