Abstract:
For maintaining the regular operating current in an inner circuit under electrostatic discharge (ESD) event, an ESD protection device is provided to control an ESD path switch in the turned-on condition by employing a MOS device and a latch-detected turned-on circuit. The MOS device has a self-aligned silicidation (Salicide) therein. The ESD protection device is used to stabilize operation efficiency and reduce the area of an ESD protection device without a silicide block disposed therein for enhancing the ESD protection capability.
Abstract:
A method for controlling the recording speed of a multi-layered optical disc divides a multi-layered optical disc into a plurality of zones with each zone having a corresponding recording speed. It is then determined which zones need the recording speed to be reduced according to the quality of the optical disc. When the optical drive records data onto an inferior quality zone, it reduces the recording speed to guarantee the reliability of recorded data and enhance recording quality. When the optical drive records data on the next recording layer and has passed the zone that corresponds to the inferior quality zone of the previous recording layer, it increases the recording speed. Thereby the method ensures both quality and efficiency. Furthermore, the recording speed of each subsequent zone of the next recording layer corresponds to the recording speed of each previous zone of the recording layer.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for frequency synchronization is proposed to obtain the pilot tones and evaluate the frequency offset and time offset for frequency synchronization. The frequency synchronization method has the following steps: filtering a baseband signal of a frequency correction burst by using multiple pre-filters; measuring the baseband signal and the signals output from the pre-filters to produce the first power value and the second power values respectively; normalizing the maximum second power value by using the first power value so as to produce the first detection value; using the samples of the baseband signal at different time points and a predetermined mathematical function to produce the second detection value; combining the first and second detection values to produce the third detection value; and using the third detection value to determine whether the frequency correction burst is received or not.

Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for controlling a TX power amplifier are provided in the present invention. The invention is applied for generating a power control curve in a power variation area to control the power variation for signal transmission when the TX power amplifier transmits the data during two continuous time slots, which are a first time slot and a second time slot, respectively have a first transmission power value K1 and a second transmission power value K2. The invention is aimed at producing a concave inter-ramp control curve in a inter-ramp division of the power variation area for controlling the power variation of the TX power amplifier, where the power for signal transmission is transformed from the first transmission power value K1 to the second transmission power value K2.

Abstract:
A microprocessor system contains a read-only memory (ROM) for storing programs or firmware. Retrieval and execution of program code is controlled by a microprocessor address bus. Erroneous data in the ROM can be corrected by address comparison and translation. Trap, region, and patch tables are provided to store addresses, regions, and translated addresses. An address issued by the microprocessor is stored in the trap and region tables can be translated for selecting another programmable device, such as a SRAM or DRAM, other than the original ROM. Thus, erroneous code in the ROM can be corrected, inserted, or replaced.
Abstract:
A power management method applied in a portable electronic device is provided. When the portable electronic device enters a standby state, the method starts a frame refresh timer, wherein a timing period of the frame refresh timer is a frame refresh timing period; and starts a suspension timer, wherein a timing period of the suspension timer is a suspension timing period. When the portable electronic device is in the standby state, and when a frame refresh timing period of the frame refresh timer is completed, the portable electronic device displays one of the frames and sets the frame refresh timer to begin another frame refresh timing period for consecutively displaying the frames. When a suspension timing period of the suspension timer is completed, the portable electronic device suspends the frame refresh timer and enters a power saving state.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for detecting bit synchronization boundary in a received signal. A counter is set for defining a bit boundary of the received signal. Transitions in the received signal are detected and compared with the counter value as the transitions are expected to occur only at the bit boundary. The bit boundary is confirmed if a preset number of transitions aligned with the bit boundary.
