    摘要: A pipe facing machine (PFM) system includes a PFM and a hydraulic power source having a single hydraulic pump arranged to provide a hydraulic oil flow to the PFM via single hydraulic circuit. The PFM includes a body defining an axis and a cutting head arranged to rotate and translate relative to the axis. Drive systems are arranged to drive clamping of the PFM on a workpiece, rotation of the cutting head about the axis, and translation of the cutting head along the axis. A hydraulic controller includes a plurality of control elements and hydraulically connects the drive systems. The hydraulic controller is arranged to direct and regulate hydraulic oil flow between the drive systems and the hydraulic controller based on signals from the control elements and a computer control system.

    摘要: A welding head employs a carriage assembly for guiding the welding head along a track or guide. A torch assembly, mounted on the carriage assembly, is configurable for multiple welding processes. The torch assembly includes a torch block and a GTA filler wire guide mounted together on a mounting plate, whereby the GTA filler wire guide is placed in general proximity of a welding torch mounted on the torch block. The torch block accommodates the mounting of either of a GMA torch and a GTA torch. Additionally, the torch block accommodates placement of a GMA adapter sleeve within the torch block to feed a filler wire through the GMA torch. A system control unit provides manual, semi-automated, or automated control of welding system resources including a welding power supply, a supply of one or more shielding gasses, and a fluid coolant supply.

    摘要: A tube squaring tool includes a housing having forward and rearward end areas and a tubular workpiece clamping device located at the forward end area for securing and retaining a tubular workpiece relative to the housing so that the end of the workpiece can be machined by a rotary cutting head carried by the housing and movable towards and away from the end of the workpiece by manipulation of a feed mechanism. The tubular workpiece clamping device includes a pair of saddle members carried within a saddle mounting ring with one of the saddle members being frictionally secured within the mounting ring using a detent mechanism and the other saddle member being movable relative to the mounting ring and the opposing saddle member by a threaded connector that enables clamping of a tubular workpiece between the saddle members when the moveable saddle member is moved in a clamping direction towards the opposed fixed saddle member. Interchangeability of the saddle members to accommodate different size workpieces is facilitated by the friction coupling between one of the saddle members and the mounting ring and the saddle members are configured so that they may be readily removed and replaced through a radial retaining projection located on the forward end of the mounting ring.

    摘要: A feed control for a tool bit carried by a headstock of a lathe includes a driving cam having a profiled lobe that permits automatic quick return of the tool bit following each cutting operation. The cam is driven in a forward feed direction by a cam actuator arm carried by the headstock of the lathe that is connected to the cam through a one-way drive clutch that converts oscillating motion of the cam actuator arm into unidirectional intermittent rotational motion of the cam. A control device is provided to adjust the incremental feed rate of the tool bit by controlling the motion of the cam actuator arm and the staring position of the tool bit between cutting cycles is adjustable.

    摘要: A process for buttwelding metal workpieces having bevelled joint preparations using an automatic GTAW welder using filler wire includes preparing the bevelled workpiece with bevelled joint areas having minimal land thickness at the root extremities; placing the prepared workpiece joint sections together with an open gap between their adjacent root extremities, the gap having a minimum dimension that avoids harmful compression stress between the workpieces due to weld shrinkage and a maximum dimension that avoids filler wire penetration of the gap; fusion welding the open root area of the adjacent workpieces with a root pass weld using an automatic GTAW welder supplied with filler wire and a shield gas including 1 to 10% hydrogen and the balance inert gas; and then promptly overlaying the root pass weld with at least one additional filler weld pass using an automatic GTAW supplied with filler wire and hydrogen-free shield gas.

    摘要: A roller cutter module for use with a rotatable tool carrier head of a lathe machine tool includes multiple opposed cutter wheels for transversely cutting tubular workpieces, and wherein the wheels are rotatably mounted upon support arms that are pivotally attached to a support plate that is attached to the tool carrier head. An actuating system carried by the support plate pivots the support arms so as to cause the cutter wheels to be fed radially inwardly to sever a workpiece. The actuating system includes a linkage assembly which cooperates with the support plate to enable equalization of the cutting forces applied by the opposed cutter wheels to an out-of-round workpiece. The cutter wheels are mounted on the support arms so as to biased against spring elements in an axial direction to track a cutting centerline axially away from the support plate.
