摘要: A backlight system comprises at least two light-emitting panels (1; 11) having a front wall (2; 12), an opposing rear wall (3; 13) and opposite edge surfaces (4, 14; 5, 15). At least one of the edge surfaces (4; 14) is light-transmitting and associated with a plurality of light sources (6, 16). Light originating from the light sources (6; 16) is diffused in the panel (1; 11). Sub-surfaces (8, 18) of the rear walls (3, 13) are provided with means for extracting light from the panel (1, 11). In operation, said sub-surfaces (8, 18) project light on areas (9, 19) of an (imaginary) plane (40) which is positioned parallel to the light-emitting panels (1, 11). Said projected areas (9, 19) in the plane (40) are substantially contiguous. Preferably, said sub-surfaces (8, 18) are remote from the light-transmitting edge surfaces (4; 14). Preferably, each of said sub-surfaces (8, 18) forms a single surface covering half the front wall (2, 12) of the light-emitting panel (1, 11). Alternatively, the sub-surfaces encompass a substantial area of the rear walls, the distribution of the means for extracting light from the panel being such that the amount of extracted light changes as a function of the distance to the light-transmitting edge surfaces. Preferably, the light source comprises a plurality of red, green, blue (and amber) LEDs, each preferably having a luminous flux of at least 5 lumen.

摘要: The electric lamp has a quartz glass lamp vessel (1) having first and second neck-shaped portions (2, 3) with first and second seals (4, 5). Current supply conductors (6, 7, 8; 9, 10, 11) consist of a metal foil (7, 10) embedded in the respective seal (4, 5), an inner (6, 9) and an outer current wire (8, 11) connected hereto. A seal ends with a closed fracture surface (14) through which an outer current wire (8, 11) extends. Favorably, the edge (13) of the fracture surface (14) has some small indentations (16) adjacent the origin of the fracture (19). The total length of the lamp is about 2 mm less than that of its conventional counterpart.

摘要: The apparatus for encoding a plurality of digital information signals, having at least a first input unit for receiving a first digital information signal and a second input unit for receiving a second digital information signal. A signal combination unit combines the first and second digital information signal to generate a first combination signal. First and second data compression units compress the first and second digital information signal so as to obtain first and second data reduced digital information signals. First, second, and third masked threshold determining units determine first, second and third masked thresholds respectively from the first, second digital information signals and the combination signal respectively. A selection unit selects one masked threshold from the first and third masked threshold so as to obtain a first selected masked threshold. Preferably, the first selected masked threshold is the smallest of the first and third masked thresholds. The first data compression unit compresses the first digital information signal in response to the first selected masked threshold. A formatting unit combines the first and second data reduced digital information signals into a transmission signal for transmission via a transmission medium. The choice is made between at least two masked thresholds, including the masked threshold derived from the information signal itself and the masked threshold derived from another signal. The other signal may be a combination signal that includes the information signal.

摘要: An electric lamp according to the invention comprises a lamp vessel (10) which is closed in a gastight manner, which has an end portion (11), and which surrounds a light source (12). The lamp vessel supports a cylindrical collar (30) with an axis (31) at its end portion (11). One or several projections (33a, 33b, 33c) of a first coupling member (30) which each grip into a respective recess (41a, 41c) of a second coupling member (40) couple the collar (30) to a mounting member (40) for fastening the lamp to a carrier. At least one of the coupling members (30) is made of an elastic material. The second coupling member (40) has two or more axial zones (43, 43') each with at least one recess (41a, 41b, 41c; 41a', 41b, 41c') and a raised step (42a, 42b, 42c; 42a', 42b', 42c') which bounds the recess in tangential direction, while a raised step (42a, 42b, 42c) of an axial zone (43) also forms part of an axial boundary of a recess (41a', 41c') of an adjoining axial zone (43') each time, and the raised steps and the one or several projections (33a, 33b, 33c) have mutually self-locating shapes in at least one tangential direction. The construction of the lamp according to the invention renders it possible to remove the lamp vessel from the mounting member without the use of a tool, but counteracts an inadvertent removal.

摘要: The invention relates to a radio transceiver having a high-frequency output stage and a control circuit for controlling the transmitter power, in which the control circuit is supplied with an actual voltage in the form of a signal derived from the transmit signal. Especially in handheld radios the environment of the antenna is affected by the position of the unit, so that antenna mismatches constantly occur. This can disturb the proper operation of state-of-the-art power control circuits. To avoid such interference, the invention proposed to supply as an actual value to the control circuit a signal which is tapped prior to the signal being supplied to the high-frequency power amplifier output stage.

摘要: In a magnetic resonance method for imaging of a moving part of a body (106) temporary magnetic gradient fields (230) are applied and a echo signal (641, 642) is obtained after an excitation pulse (201). An image of the moving part is reconstructed from the received echo signals (240). The moving part introduces artefacts in the reconstructed image. These artefacts could be reduced when the instantaneous position of the moving part is known and the region of the moving part to be excited is adjusted according to this instantaneous position. This instantaneous position is derived from navigator signals (640). These navigator signals (640) could be generated independently from the other echo signals (641, 642) in the moving part of the body. A further reduction of artefacts in the image could be obtained by deriving a phase correction and a frequency correction from the navigator signals (640) and to apply the derived corrections to the received echo signals (641, 642). Also this method could be combined with ECG-triggering and respiratory gating.

摘要: A method of manufacturing a programmable semiconductor element in the form of an anti-fuse, comprising a thin layer of silicon oxide between two electrode regions, such that a connection can be formed between these electrode regions through electric breakdown in the oxide. In the method, a nitrogen implantation is first carried out at the area of the oxide to be formed, so that a thin layer comprising nitrogen is formed at the surface, which has an oxidation-decelerating effect. Then the oxide is provided through thermal oxidation. Owing to the oxidation-decelerating effect of the layer with nitrogen, an extremely thin oxide layer, for example 5 nm thick, may be obtained in a reproducible manner in a sufficiently long oxidation time.
