摘要: A blood volume monitor includes a carrier mountable on a subject's body part. A measuring arrangement is mounted on the carrier. The measuring arrangement provides data relating to a change in volume of the body part, and outputs signals representative of the change. A control unit is in communication with the measuring arrangement to process data output by the measuring arrangement to determine, using the volume data, the volume of the body part and determines blood volume in the body part. The control unit uses the response signals received from the measuring arrangement and the determined volume of the part of the body to determine the blood volume.

摘要: An apparatus and a method are provided for column chromatography which provide improvements in separation resolution and detection sensitivity, comprising a chromatography column, the column having an inlet and an outlet, wherein the outlet is configured to split a flow of eluate as it leaves the column through the outlet into at least two separate portions, wherein the apparatus is configured to separately process the portions, for example to separately detect a portion or separately collect fractions of a portion with improved resolution. A split frit assembly is preferably configured to split the flow of eluate. The portions preferably emanate from different radial regions of the column. An end fitting for the column outlet may be provided having multiple ports to separately convey the portions.

摘要: A profiled metal sheet for use in the construction of composite slabs is disclosed. The sheet includes a plurality of parallel longitudinal ribs separated by pans and male and female members at opposite sides of the sheet that enable adjacent sheets to be connected together in overlapping relationship. At least one of the ribs, male members and female members has a side that extends from the pan that is adjacent the rib or the member. The side includes a re-entrant section and a corner section that connects the side and the adjacent pan. The corner section includes a plurality of regions at spaced intervals along the length of the corner section that extend outwardly compared with adjacent regions of the corner section. The spaced regions are provided to improve longitudinal slip resistance of composite slabs formed from the sheet.

摘要: A composite beam is disclosed. The beam includes a beam (5), a solid slab or a composite slab (29) positioned on and supported by the beam, the solid slab and the composite slab including a slab section and a plurality of concrete ribs (21) extending from the slab section. The beam also includes at least one shear connector (15) positioned in at least one of the concrete ribs and connecting the solid slab or the composite slab to the beam. The beam also includes a reinforcing component (19) embedded in at least one concrete rib that includes an embedded shear connector or connectors. The reinforcing component is in the form of a mesh that includes line wires (41) and cross wires (43) that are connected together at the intersections of the wires.

The main decking panel includes a base component that includes a central pan (7) and lap joints (9) on each side of the pan to enable adjacent main decking panels to be positioned side by side in overlapping relationship. The main decking panel also includes a strengthening component in the form of an inverted channel member secured to the base component. The channel member includes two oppoesd side walls (11) formed from web components and a top (13) formed from a chord component. The web and top chord components are manufactured as separate components and thereafter assembled together to form the channel member.
