摘要: A working end of a surgical instrument that carries first and second jaws for delivering energy to tissue. In a preferred embodiment, at least one jaw of the working end defines a tissue-engagement plane that contacts the targeted tissue. The cross-section of the engagement plane reveals that it defines (i) a first surface conductive portion or a variably resistive matrix of a temperature-sensitive resistive material or a pressure-sensitive resistive material, and (ii) a second surface portion coupled to a fixed resistive material that coupled in series or parallel to a voltage source together with the first portion. In use, the engagement plane will apply active Rf energy to ohmically heat the captured tissue until the point in time that a controller senses an electrical parameter of the tissue such as impedance. Thereafter, the controller switches energy delivery to the second surface portion that is resistively heated to thereby apply energy to tissue by conductive heat transfer.

摘要: A treatment device for a medical treatment heats a biotissue. The device includes a treatment tool which includes a heat transfer portion and a resistance element, a storage section which stores a time-power list including time-power relations, and a controller. The controller includes a resistance value acquiring section acquiring a resistance value of the resistance element, a power supplying section supplying the power to the resistance element, and a control section. The control section causes the power supplying section to supply a predetermined state detection power in a state detection period, calculates a change of the resistance value in the state detection period, acquires the time-power relation corresponding to the change of the resistance value, and causes the power supplying section to supply the power based on the acquired time-power relation.

摘要: A device for hyperthermia treatment in a body cavity or duct which has a narrow access pathway includes an elongate distal section for insertion into the body cavity comprising a centrally-located heat-releasing element enclosed by an elastic enclosure. The heat-releasing element is either surrounded by an elongate housing or is shaped to form a housing. An axially opening inlet passage opens to the proximal part of the housing to supply a heat-transmitting fluid to the housing. The housing has an outlet port to allow fluid to flow from the housing to fill and expand the elastic enclosure to exert pressure on the walls of the body cavity and an inlet port which allows fluid to return into the housing, thus permitting circulation of the fluid during treatment which results in uniform heating of the fluid. The heat-releasing element is formed of an inherently heat self-regulating type material and is either a semi-conductor material of PTC-type having a Curie temperature or Trip point, or a ferromagnetic material having a Curie point in combination with a supply of energy based on magnetic induction.

摘要: A video camera system has a modulation transfer function (MTF). Video image data are stored in frame grabbers and converted in a digital signal processor from the image domain to the spatial domain by a two-dimensional digital Fourier transform. The spatial data are filtered by a two-dimensional aperture correction filter that has an MTF inverse to the uncorrected system MTF. The filtered spatical data are converted back into the image domain by a two-dimensional inverse digital Fourier transform. The two-dimensional digital aperture correction filter is stored in the form of software in the digital signal processor.

摘要: A system and method are disclosed for providing precisely controlled heating (and cooling in come case) of a small region of body tissue to effectuate the removal of tumors and deposits. such as atheromatous plaque, without causing damage to healthy surrounding tissue, e.g. arterial walls. Such precisely controlled heating is produced through thermoelectric and resistive heating, and thermoelectric control of a heated probe tip. The system includes a probe tip with N-doped and P-doped legs of semincoductor material, a catheter to which the probe tip is attached for insertion into a patient's body, and a system control mechanism. The probe may be used for reduction and/or removal of atheromatous obstruction in arteries or veins. It may also be used for destruction of diseased tissue and/or tumors in various parts of the body, such as the brain or the bladder. The probe may be configured for either tip heating or for side heating.
