A transport chair is provided that includes a base frame, a seat assembly pivotally mounted to the base, and a footrest assembly pivotally mounted to the base frame, the footrest assembly being associated with the seat assembly so as to pivot in unison with the seat assembly until the seat assembly is pivoted forward to an extent at which the footrest assembly contacts the floor or ground, at which point the footrest assembly does not pivot further upon further forward pivoting of the seat assembly. Further embodiments of the transport chair allow the seat assembly to recline, alone or in unison with a leg rest assembly, while the footrest remains in position.

A disinfecting cover for use in disinfecting a weight bearing upper surface of a resilient medical patient pressure redistribution support includes a thin barrier membrane drapable on top of the weight bearing upper surface of the resilient support, and a peripherally-extending edge terminating between the peripherally-extending side of the resilient support between the weight bearing upper surface and the bottom surface of the support. The thin barrier membrane comprises an anti-microbial disinfectant, and being non-fibrous, and impervious to the transfer of fluid from the first main surface to the second main surface. The thin barrier membrane comprises a thickness operable to maintain the weight distribution of a patient on the weight bearing upper surface of the resilient medical patient pressure redistribution support substantially the same compared to the weight distribution without the thin barrier membrane.

A wheeled chair for transporting patients includes a plurality of footrests for supporting a patient's feet thereon. Each footrest is pivotable between an up position and a down position, and includes a biasing mechanism for biasing the footrest toward the up position, or the down position, or whichever of the two positions the footrest is currently closer to. A swing mechanism swings the footrests from a use position in front of the seat to a stowed position alongside the seat. A trigger, such as a button, automatically activates the swinging. The swinging may take place about a vertical axis that is common to the axis about which the front caster wheels swivel. Pivot extensions may be included on the footrests that provide a tool for enabling a caregiver to manually pivot the footrest between the up and down positions with his or her foot.

A transfer sheet comprises a substantially impervious structural base layer, an absorbent layer disposed on the base layer, and a permeable layer disposed on the absorbent layer, with the absorbent layer between the base and permeable layers. An adhesive area can be provided on the bottom of the base layer, opposite the absorbent and permeable layers, with a removable tab extending over the adhesive. The adhesive can be configured for attaching the base layer to the continuous belt of a patient transfer device, where the continuous belt is disposed about a bridge spaced between two sides of a housing, for use in conveying a patient or other body from one surface to another.

A wheeled chair for transporting patients includes a frame, a seat, a plurality of wheels, and a plurality of armrests. The armrests are pivotable about a common pivot axis that is oriented generally horizontally and that is positioned underneath the seat and forward of a back support. Each armrest may include a locking mechanism for holding the armrests in a use position. When locked in the use position, a user may apply an upward force on the armrests to lift the chair upwardly that does not cause pivoting of the armrests. The chair is designed to allow nesting with other chairs of similar design. The front wheels may be positioned laterally apart a greater distance than the rear wheels to allow a first chair to nestingly receive a rear portion of a second chair. Foley hooks may also be included on the chair for hanging a Foley catheter bag.

A wheeled personal conveyance has a rear portion and a front portion, the front portion being configured to receive into the wheeled personal conveyance the rear portion of a like wheeled personal conveyance such that the like wheeled personal conveyance is at least partially nested within the wheeled personal conveyance. By one approach, a body frame as comprises the wheeled personal conveyance has a front portion that is laterally wider than a part of the body frame that comprises a part of the aforementioned rear portion of the wheeled personal conveyance. So configured, the wheeled personal conveyance can have a passenger area that is wider towards the front than towards the back. By one approach, arm rests are provided that connect to a seat of the wheeled personal conveyance and that move in conjunction with the seat as the seat pivots.

A mounting device which provides a pivotal interface for emergency equipment and a method of attaching the emergency equipment to a rescue transport, e.g., a foot of a litter, are disclosed. For example, the mounting device is releasably attachable to the litter and includes a fastening device operably attached to a mounting structure of the device. The mounting structure includes a tilt plate capable of pivoting. The mounting device also includes an adapter capable of securely mating with the tilt plate, providing a pivotal interface for the attachment of the emergency equipment thereto.

A foldable structure for a hospital bed contains two mounts, a bed frame, and a bed plane, each mount including two rotary positioning pieces, wherein each rotary positioning piece has a hole and an arcuate groove to axially connect the each rotary positioning piece with two coupling elements of the bed frame, such that the bed frame rotates relative to the two mounts, the each rotary positioning piece has two orifices corresponding to two ends of the arcuate groove so that a spring pin of each side of the bed frame is inserted into one of the two orifices of the each rotary positioning pieces, hence the spring pin is pushed out of the one of the two orifices of the each rotary positioning pieces, a coupling element in the arcuate groove rotates smoothly relative to a coupling element in the hole, thus retracting or expanding the bed frame easily.
