摘要： An intraoral continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) interface that comprises a tube connected to a source of positive air pressure, and a shield connected to, or integrally formed with, the tube and adapted to be inserted within buccal sulci in such a way that facilitates oral cavity sealing. The shield has a central part formed with an aperture in communication with the tube, and right and left longitudinally extending projections adjoining, and of substantial bilateral symmetry with respect to the central part. Each of the projections has adjoining upper and lower regions and each of the regions has adjoining proximal and distal portions, Each of the projections is dimensioned such that a distal portion has a thickness substantially equal to, or greater than, a buccal sulcus potential space gap, and is configured, when inserted within a buccal sulcus, in such a way so as to adhere to the oral mucosa, to occupy the entire volume of buccal sulcus potential space, and to seal the oral cavity.

摘要： An improved tracheal tube cuff for protection of the lungs against aspiration injury and for improved continuous oxygen administration is presented. The low pressure inflatable cuff of this invention attaches to the endotracheal end of a tube and can be placed within the trachea either transorally or through a tracheostomy. The cuff is approximately a pair of inverted paraboloids precisely located on the tube so that upon inflation or expansion under low pressure, the tube will open against the tracheal wall forming a proximal seal against aspirated substances and will open distally beyond the end of the tube to create a seal to gaseous substances under varying pressures such as, but not exclusively, oxygen.

摘要： Apparatus for intubation within body passages, comprising an elongated tube having the usual opening at the distal end and means for connection to a source of fluid, such as air, at the other end. Occlusion means is located about the surface of the tube near the open end to seal the space between the passage and the tube against flow of air. The canopy is adapted to be distended against the inner surface of the passage to form the required seal.
