摘要： Described is an autoinjector comprising a case, a drive carriage disposed in the case, and a plunger coupled to the drive carriage. The plunger is adapted to releasably engage a needle retraction mechanism in a syringe. Translation of the drive carriage in a distal direction relative to the case causes the plunger to engage the needle retraction mechanism and translation of the drive carriage in a proximal direction relative to the casing case the plunger to needle retraction mechanism the stopper.

摘要： A retractable needle device attachable to the front of a fluid collection or infusion device such as a syringe, the retractable needle device comprising a housing having an engagement member, a slide support surface, a retraction cavity and a first pinch surface; a needle; a needle alignment member comprising a needle tube and a second pinch surface; and a needle retraction mechanism positioned within the needle tube and configured to bias the needle rearwardly; wherein the first and second pinch surfaces are configured so that a pinching force applied to them will cause relative lateral movement between the housing and needle alignment member. This translational movement from an injection position, wherein the needle is aligned with the syringe connector, to a retraction position, wherein the needle is aligned with the retraction cavity, allows the needle retraction mechanism to force the needle into the retraction cavity.

摘要： A mixing device and a retractable syringe comprising same are provided. The mixing device comprises concentric outer and inner barrels that form an outer chamber, the inner barrel having an inner chamber. A mixing plunger is slidably located in the outer chamber. A seal located in the outer chamber is capable of axial movement, in response to depression of the mixing plunger, from a first position in sealing engagement with one or more apertures in the inner barrel to a second position intermediate the apertures and vents in the outer barrel. This allows depression of the mixing plunger to force a first substance from the outer chamber through the apertures to mix with a second substance in the inner chamber. The mixed substance in the inner barrel is then delivered by the syringe with subsequent needle retraction.

摘要： Barrel adapters for safety syringes include a barrel and a plunger assembly adapted to move within the barrel, a barrel tip adapted to be sealingly engaged with a distal end of the barrel and a needle retraction mechanism barrel having a needle subassembly and an actuator subassembly. The needle subassembly includes a needle, and a needle-over-mold (NOM) through which the needle extends. The needle subassembly is disposed at least partially within the barrel tip, and adapted to move from an injection position in which the needle extends from a distal end of the barrel tip to a retracted position in which the needle is disposed within at least one of the barrel tip or the barrel. The actuator subassembly includes a needle seal, a push-bar, and an actuator surface. The needle retraction mechanism barrel includes a biasing member and an actuable locking arrangement. A syringe includes such barrel adapters.

摘要： A barrel adapter mountable to a syringe barrel includes a barrel tip, a biasing member, a locking mechanism, and a needle assembly. A safety syringe includes a barrel, a plunger assembly, and a barrel adapter. The needle assembly includes a needle, a needle hub, and a needle seal. The needle is configured to pass-through the needle assembly, locking mechanism, biasing member, and barrel tip such that, at one end the needle is within the barrel and at another end the needle passes through an aperture in the barrel tip. The barrel may be substantially cylindrical, having along its longitudinal axis a distal end for drug injection, a proximal end for injection control, and at least a portion of the barrel interior for drug containment. The barrel adapter provides needle retraction mechanisms to the barrel to form a safety syringe. Methods of assembling, manufacturing, and using such syringes are also provided.

摘要： A tamperproof retractable non-reusable syringe has a one piece hollow outer body with a barrel for a slidable plunger, a transition zone and a smaller diameter nose portion. An elongated needle holder and spring combination is installable from the rear of the outer body, guided into the nose portion and held by cooperating inwardly and outwardly facing surfaces oriented in the direction of retraction at the most constricted part of the transition zone where the nose begins. The plunger has an opening with a dislodgable stopper for receiving parts of the retraction mechanism. The stopper and the head of the needle holder are of significantly reduced diameter from the injection fluid chamber to resist blowing out prematurely. In one embodiment the head of the needle holder is surrounded by a separable retainer member which is slidingly removed by contact with the tip of the plunger after the stopper is mostly or fully removed to avoid cumulation of force required for retraction after the injection. In a second embodiment the head of the needle holder is clamped and held by constricting forces imposed by stress on the outer body induced by interference fit. Release occurs by slight expansion on the barrel by contact of the plunger tip with a small internal ramp in the outer barrel. Both embodiments have a plunger cap configured to enter an opening in the outer body to provide an additional tamperproof feature. The retraction cavity is provided with venting structures to assure that all uninjected fluid is retained within the syringe body.

The hollow body (10) has a first end (11) provided with a needle mounting hub (13) and a plurality of releasable latches (15) holding the needle mounting hub (13) against spring (14) bias. The latches (15) are formed integrally with the hollow body (10) and project longitudinally inside the hollow body (10) from a proximal end at or adjacent the first end (11) of the hollow body (10) to a free end. A respective opening (35) is provided in the body (10) radially inwards of each of the latches (15). The plunger (20) has a forward end insertable into the body (10) from a second end thereof, a hollow interior and a closed rear end. The plunger front end is operable, upon insertion of the plunger (20) into the body (10), to deflect the latches (15) radially outwards and thereby release the needle mounting hub (13) from the latches (15) so that the hub (13) together with the needle mounted thereby retract under spring action into the hollow interior of the plunger (20). A respective opening (30) is also provided in the hollow body (10) radially outwards of at least some of the latches (15) so that each such latch (15) connects to the material of the body (10) only at each side of its proximal end.

A latch means (428) is present for retaining the carriage (422) in a first position in the retraction housing (412). A follower (432) is connected to the carriage (422) and engaged with the helical path (421). A stored energy device (434) is connected to the follower (432) and the carriage (422). An actuation means (419) is operable to move the retraction housing (412) towards the distal end of the first passage (402), thereby to release the latch means (428) such that the stored energy device (434) is operable to drive the follower (432) along the helical path (421) and to retract the carriage (422) towards the proximal end of the retraction housing (412).
