The slide assembly includes a stationary idler shaft mounted transverse to the conveyor axis on a take-up slide. At least two guide pins extend from the shaft parallel to the conveyor axis. Each guide pin mounts a cylindrical bearing holder thereon. The bearing holders are both pivotable and slidable on the guide pins. Springs disposed in pockets in the idler shaft bias the bearing holders. The bearing holders each mount a drum for rotation with the drum.degree. s axis parallel to the idler shaft. The pivoting of the bearing holders accommodates conveyor belt camber while the sliding permits tension adjustment and control.

A rachet wheel having a plurality of circumferentially spaced finger engaging members is fixably mounted to the drive rod of the conveyor. The fingers on the arm engage the finger engaging members of the rachet wheel upon movement of the head of the press in a first direction which causes the rachet wheel as well as the drive rod to rotate. The rotation of the drive rod results in an incremental advance of the conveyor which removes material deposited thereon from the press machine.

A hydraulic press is disclosed for smoothing sheet metal workpieces. A carrier plate is longitudinally moved through the press frame by a motorized conveyor linkage. The press contains a press ram which only moves laterally and not longitudinally with respect to the workpiece conveyed by the carrier plate. The ram is mounted so that its lateral movement above the workpiece is not restricted and the ram can be moved to a position outward of the lateral edges of a work table on which the workpiece is positioned. Therefore, pressure can be applied to any point on the sheet metal workpiece and the loading and unloading of such workpiece is facilitated. Additionally, the press is provided with a detachable connecting plate which structurally supports the ram mounting assembly but can be easily removed to facilitate ram removal for maintenance or exchange purposes.

The present invention relates to a spaced forwarding device for cut wires which can automatically forward with specified spacing cut pieces of a long small-diameter wire one by one to the working stage. More specifically it relates to a forwarding device for cut wires which can forward cut pieces one by one in an orderly fashion as required for the working stage, even if the timing for cutting is not coordinated with the timing for forwarding to the working stage. The improved spaced forwarding device for cut wires according to the present invention comprises a chain equipped on the periphery with a plurality of wire-holding bosses at a specified interval and at least three sprocket wheels; and an inclined plate for forwarding the cut wires. The rotating path of the chain contains an inclined part following said inclined plate and a vertical part. A weight is hung from a shaft on a fourth wheel located in higher position along the inclined part of the path, another weight is hung from a shaft on a wheel located below the vertical part of the path, in such manner that the highest and lowest wheels can be intermittently rotated and said first and fourth wheels can be shiftable along said inclined plate. The lower weight is greater than the highest weight. By dependently or independently rotating said wheels intermittently, the cut wires are arrested by the wire-holding bosses one by one and thus they can be forwarded in spaced relationship.
