    摘要： Nails having radially offset, circular heads are manufactured from a malleable wire. The wire is clamped so that a leading portion extends axially from a clamping mechanism. The extending portion is bent at an acute angle relative to a clamping axis. The extending portion is cut so as to form a pointed end thereon and so as to leave a bent stub extending at such an angle. Such a nail head is formed from the stub, which is pressed by a punch into a cavity defined by the clamping mechanism, and which is deformed when pressed thereinto. The cavity has a fully circular, offset margin. The punch has a face covering the cavity. Once released, the wire is fed axially until a leading portion extends as before. These operations are repeated to form a similar nail in each repetition. A novel apparatus for carrying out these operations is disclosed.

    摘要： A tool for making a rivet or expansion nail, i.e. a nail that has at least at one end a laterally expandable portion and is made by cutting off and stamping a nail wire in a single working stroke, wherein the tool includes a guide for a nail wire for guiding the wire in a plane perpendicular to the wire, a cutter having edges disposed in V-fashion, a stamping mandrel arranged in the plane of symmetry of the cutting edges and positioned on the open side of and facing away from the converging point of the V-arrayed cutting edges, and resilient applicators which are pressed by the nail wire during a working stroke of the tool against the action of a spring and lift the nail from the cutter and stamping mandrel during a return stroke of the tool.

    摘要： Apparatus and a method for making nails with flat circular heads and a shank of a noncircular cross-sectional shape and the method comprises: unwinding drawn wire from a roll of wire and advancing the wire by an intermittent drive means; passing the wire through guide means to provide a straight length of wire; engaging a portion of the wire with die means to form a cylindrical portion on the wire having a circular cross-sectional shape and a length substantially sufficient to form the head of the nail; feeding the wire into a nail-making machine wherein the head is formed from the cylindrical portion and shearing the nail off at the end of the shank to form the nail.
