摘要:
A method for forming a lining on the internal faces of a vessel involves installing a granular composition into a gap formed between the internal faces of the vessel and a mandrel. The granular composition is dropped into the gap in the form of a single mass.

An apparatus which is adapted to move along a tundish, ladle, or the like having a generally closed lower end, enclosed sides, and an open upper end. The apparatus sprays the sides and lower end of the tundish with refractory material. The apparatus comprises a nozzle having an inlet and an outlet, and a base movable in an x direction generally horizontally along the tundish, a boom movable in a vertical y direction, a lance movable in a z direction generally perpendicular to the x and y directions, and a rotatably swivel bracket for rotating the nozzle outlet about an axis extending in the y direction. The apparatus also includes piping for supplying fluidized refractory material to the nozzle inlet, and a water ring for wetting the fluidized material before the nozzle outlet.

The present invention provides an apparatus useful in a cast lining process. In the cast lining process, a mandrel is positioned inside a vessel to be lined, so as to form a casting space, and a castable is delivered into the casting space to produce the cast lining. The novel apparatus of the present invention includes a rotatable and horizontally movable belt conveyor arranged above the casting space. The preferred apparatus also includes a contractable and expandable mandrel. Also provided by the present invention is an improved cast lining process.

A method of and an apparatus for forming a liner in an induction furnace is disclosed. The apparatus includes a hopper for storing particulate refractory material and a plurality of material delivery tubes communicating with the hopper and extending into the space between a form disposed in the furnace and a furnace wall. A compaction plate is also disposed in the space and includes a plurality of bores therethrough which communicate with the material delivery tubes. Vibrating means vibrate the hopper, material delivery tubes and the compaction plate so that the particulate refractory material is transferred from the hopper to the space between the form and the furnace wall through the material delivery tubes and the compaction plate bores and is compacted by the compaction plate to form the liner.

Disclosed is apparatus for automatically lining a vessel. With a template inside the vessel, pouring and ramming stations are disposed within the annular space defined by the template and vessel for rotation about the central axis of the vessel. The ramming stations include rams movable in a radially inward direction to compact the lining material at the bottom of the vessel and movable outwardly to compact the material forming the side walls of the vessel.

The method consists in that a refractory mass is delivered by a sand-blast head along the ladle lining surface and parallel thereto, and, simultaneously, the sand-blast head is imparted such a complex movement inside the ladle as to fill the lining continuously along a helical trajectory and over the entire height of the ladle from the bottom to the top. A backing shaping element is positioned behind the head to ensure a predetermined narrow gap that is to be filled with the refractory mass. The apparatus for effecting the method is mounted on a platform installed inside the ladle on a hollow supporting rod through which the mass is fed to the sand-blast head. The head feeds the mass to apply the same to the inner surfaces of the ladle, while the backing shaping element limits the gap to be filled with the mass behind the head. Provision is made for a contact sensor of the current level of the lining plane, and controlled drives of the platform rotation, rod lifting and change in the radial jet of the mass thrown out of the sand-blast head.

A method of lining molten metal vessels and spouts with refractories, characterized in that refractories having adjusted grain size are thrown in the outer frame of a top opened vessels and spouts for molten metal and an inner molding frame for lining, which is provided with a vibrator and able to be imposed with loads, is mounted on said refractories and settled down to the prescribed position in the outer frame while vibrated and loaded, so that the internal circumference of the beforementioned outer frame can be lined with the refractories.

A refractory lining is formed in a furnace by providing a carrier for a lining form which has dimensions that provide a uniform space for the introduction of refractory material when the lining form is concentrically located within the furnace. The carrier concentrically engages and is attached to the lining form, and includes a portion that engages the furnace and locates the carrier and the lining form, when attached, concentrically within the furnace to provide a uniform space therebetween. The carrier can also have an upper surface that slopes downwardly from adjacent its center to its periphery to convey particulate refractory material poured onto the surface into the space between the lining form and the furnace. Further, a fixture is provided to hold the lining form concentric while the particulate refractory material is compacted by vibration.

The present invention is directed to a multi-part form, for use in forming an inner wall of a mold. The multi-part form includes a consumable exterior wall for contacting a casting compound. A collapsible intermediate wall contacts an inner side of the exterior wall and an interior wall is slidably engaged with the intermediate wall. The present invention is also directed to a method of forming a containment member for molten metal. A mold having an inner wall is provided. The inner wall includes a consumable exterior wall for contacting a casting compound, a collapsible intermediate wall that contacts an inner side of the exterior wall and an interior wall that is slidably engaged with the intermediate wall. Also provided is an outer wall that substantially surrounds the inner wall and defines a space between the outer wall and the inner wall. Casting compound is poured into the space and the casting compound is allowed to set. The interior wall is removed from the inner wall, the intermediate wall is collapsed and the intermediate wall is removed from the inner wall.

A method for lining a blast furnace or other metallurgical vessel in stages uses a plurality of porous consumable forms and a pumpable casting composition. A form member, including a rigid support frame and a porous consumable form mounted thereto, is installed in a lower portion of the vessel being lined, and is spaced from the vessel wall. Casting composition is then pumped into the space between the consumable form and the vessel wall, and is permitted to harden. Then, another form member is positioned above the first, and casting composition is pumped into the space between the second form member and the vessel wall. This process is repeated, using stacked form members, until the refractory lining is completely installed.
