摘要: To provide a device and a method for detecting, before pouring starts, any misalignment between a cope and a drag that have been molded by a flaskless molding machine and then assembled. The device (40) that can detect any misalignment between the cope (2) and the drag (3) that have been molded by the flaskless molding machine (1) and then assembled and that are being transported to the position for pouring comprises a plurality of means (51), (52), (53) for measuring distances to the cope and the drag that measures the distances (S11), (S12), (S13), (S21), (S22), (S23) to the cope and the drag, and a means (48) for calculating a degree of a misalignment between the cope and the drag on a basis of the distances to the cope and the drag that have been measured by the means for measuring distances to the cope and the drag.

摘要: A casting apparatus is provided with a die; an injection device including a tubular sleeve which communicates with a cavity of the die, and a plunger which injects a molten metal into the cavity; and first and second suction devices, each of which sucks air from the interior of the tubular sleeve. The tubular sleeve communicates with the cavity. The tubular sleeve includes a supply port through which the molten metal is supplied, and an opening which is formed near the supply port for drawing air. The first suction device sucks the air from the interior of the tubular sleeve through the opening. The second suction device sucks the air from the tubular sleeve through a gap between an inner circumferential surface of the tubular sleeve and an outer circumferential surface of the plunger.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a stent includes forming a stent blank from a first material, the stent blank comprising a plurality of struts and a plurality of crowns, each crown connecting at least two struts, and a plurality of slots in at least some of the plurality of struts and/or the plurality of crowns, depositing a second material over outer surfaces of the struts and the crowns and in the slots to encase the stent blank in the second material, creating at least one opening through the second material, and removing the first material to form a stent comprising the second material, the stent having a continuous lumen from one end of the stent to the other end of the stent, the continuous lumen being partitioned in portions corresponding to the locations of the slots in the stent blank. The lumen may then be filled with a therapeutic substance.

摘要: Some embodiments provide methods and systems for casting articles. One example of a method includes providing and positioning a thermal blanket within a mold cavity and then introducing a molten material into the mold cavity and into contact with the thermal blanket. The method allows the molten material to remain in a molten state during a dwell time that extends from the introduction of the molten material at least until the mold cavity is filled. In another example, a method of using a thermal blanket includes keeping a molten material in a molten state during a dwell time extending from first introduction of the molten material until pressurization. Systems including a variety of mold types, one or more thermal blankets, and in some cases preforms and/or inserts are also provided. Also described is a novel thermal blanket and method of manufacturing the same.

摘要: Automated processes that dynamically control rate of delivery of molten metal to a mold during a casting process. Such automated processes can use dynamic metal level variation, control pin pulses and/or oscillation during the mold fill and transient portion of the cast. It has been found that such pulses keep metal flowing in a manner that addresses problems, particularly at the beginning of an ingot cast, associated with metal meniscus contracting and pulling away from the mold on the short faces and corners.
