Abstract:
The embodiments described herein relate to methods, systems, and structures for cutting a part to form a highly reflective and smooth surface. In some embodiments, the part includes substantially horizontal and vertical surfaces with edges and corners. In described embodiments, a diamond cutter can be used to cut a surface of the part during a milling operation where the diamond cutter contacts the part a number of times with each rotation of the spindle of a milling machine. In some embodiments, a complex feature having planar and curved surfaces is cut into a part.
Abstract:
A method for producing a fiber-reinforced composite member with connecting holes, comprising boring a cured molding of prepregs of reinforcing fibers impregnated with a matrix resin to form the connecting holes, using a burnishing drill comprising two or more tapered tip blades, two or more circumferential blades extending continuously from the tip blades to a shank, and chip-discharging grooves extending from the tip blades to the shank.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel has an outboard face which includes a smoothed portion to provide a cosmetic finish to the wheel face. The smoothed portion is formed by pressing a cutting tool having a non-symmetrical tip against the wheel surface as the wheel is rotated.
Abstract:
A combined skiver and a smooth rolling tool with a skiver head and behind this a smooth rolling head, wherein between the skiver head and the rolling head an exclusive torque transmitting coupling is located which restricts the allowable axis shaft offset and/or the angular position of the axes of the rolling head and skiver head, to which the rolling head is connected, characterized in that the skiver head (2) is guided through a workpiece bore via a hydrostatic guideway.
Abstract:
It is an object to provide a cutting tool which can perform high-quality, high-efficiency machining of a workpiece such as hardened steel. The cutting tool includes a finishing cutting edge 6 which initially cuts into the workpiece, and superfinishing cutting edges 7 for finishing the workpiece cut by the finishing cutting edge. The superfinishing cutting edges 7 project from the finishing cutting edge by a predetermined amount B in such a direction that the depth of cut of the superfinishing cutting edges increases. Each superfinishing cutting edge includes a burnishing portion 7a having a predetermined width L in the feed direction of the tool, and a wiper portion 7b. The superfinishing cutting edges 7 burnish the finished surface formed by the finishing cutting edge, while removing a affected layer formed by the finishing cutting edge.
Abstract:
A cutting tool having a hard tip is pressed with a uniform pressure against a surface of a vehicle wheel as the wheel is rotated to smooth and seal the surface. The smoothed and sealed wheel surface is then chrome plated with a process that includes applying a nickel layer directly upon smoothed and sealed wheel surface and a chromium layer over the nickel layer.
Abstract:
A cutting tip has a cutting face and a flank face. A compression face for plastically deforming a workpiece is provided between the cutting face and the flank face. The cutting tip allows work-hardening to be easily performed by plastic deformation of the cut-finished surface during cutting, without adding a separate process step.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a material-removing machine tool, in particular a deep-hole drilling machine or lathe, having a workpiece holder (14) to holding a workpiece (30), a tool holder (16), a rotary drive (18), by means of which the tool holder (16) can be rotated relative to the workpiece holder (14), an adapter (20) which has a base (20) which is rotationally fixedly connected to the tool holder (16) and has a drive side facing the tool holder (16) and an output side facing away from the tool holder (16), an anti-rotation device (42) for preventing drill head (22) and adapter (20) from rotating relative to each other and a central, continuous channel (44), through which chips can be transported away counter to a machining direction (B) of the drill head (22), and a drill head (22) which is rotationally fixedly connected to the adapter (20). According to the invention, the drill head (22) has a drill head thread (48) and a tapered shaft (50), and the adapter (20) has a union nut (34) which is rotatably fixed to the base (20) and an adapter thread (36) to interact with the drill head thread (48), and a tapered bore (38) to receive the tapered shaft (50).
Abstract:
A deep hole cutting apparatus has a chip-replaceable guide pad on a cutting head section. With the deep hole cutting apparatus, finish qualities of a cut hole to be formed can be improved and the service life of the guide pad is lengthened. A guide pad (3A) which is slidably brought into contact with the inner circumference of a cutting hole (H) is removably attached with an attaching screw (17b) to a pad attaching recessed section (18) which is formed on the outer circumference of a cutting head section (11). The top portion (P1) of the guide pad (3A) protrudes outward in the diameter direction from a cutting circumference (S) of a cutting blade (outer circumference side cutting blade (2A)).
