Abstract:
A sample cutting assembly includes a base block, a saw pressure plate, an external blade guide, and an internal blade guide. The cutter can be used to conveniently remove samples for Material testing to determine serviceability or material condition. Apparatuses and techniques for using the sample cutting assembly are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An articulating band saw apparatus provides a frame that includes a vertically extending section having upper and lower end portions. An elevator moves between the upper and lower end portions of the frame. A first hydraulic actuator is supported on the elevator for movement therewith. A first arm provides arm end portions, the first arm supported by the first hydraulic actuator. An end of the first arm supporting a second hydraulic actuator that is spaced away from the first hydraulic actuator. The second hydraulic actuator supports a second arm. An endless band type saw is mounted on the free end of the second arm generally opposite the second actuator. The band saw is movable by articulation of the first and second actuators and resulting movement of the first and second arms. In one embodiment, the band saw is a diamond wire saw.
Abstract:
The present invention provides for a vertical band saw frame assembly comprising a support column having a top and a bottom, the support column having a lower band wheel attached thereto. The band saw frame further provides for a tilt plate having a plurality of apertures attached to the top of the support column and a mounting plate. The tilt plate provides a mounting platform for the upper band wheel, blade tensioning assembly, blade guide, and blade break sensor. In a preferred embodiment, the tilt plate is attachable to the mounting plate in two positions, a first position in vertical alignment with the lower band wheel and a second position in which the upper band wheel further from the support column and at an angle to the first position to create a canted cutting blade angle.
Abstract:
A bandsaw machine is provided with a material holding vise which is so constructed that each of a fixed and a movable vise jaw has in the vicinity of its center a vertical elongate opening which is located in alignment with the plane of the cutting area of a bandsaw blade so that the bandsaw blade can pass therethrough to cut a material. The fixed vise jaw consists of two jaw elements, while the movable vise jaw is bifurcated into two jaw elements and is an integral part of a movable support member. The movable support member is adapted to serve as a work table for supporting the material and has at one end a chute for cut chips. The movable support member is also provided on its underside with a rack facing downward for tightly securing the material between the vise jaws.
Abstract:
Apparatus to control the feeding amount in hydraulically controlled band sawing machines having a pivotable frame which supports the bandsaw, and a hydraulic cylinder for lifting and lowering the frame with respect to the material to be cut, comprising a hydraulic pressure control means for the cylinder, valve means (preferably with a knife-edge shaped outlet) for controlling the quantity of hydraulic fluid reaching the cylinder, and at least one hydraulic connection, namely between the outlet of the control means and the inlet of the valve means.

Abstract:
A metal cutting band saw is provided that includes a main carrier, on which an intermediate carrier is pivotally mounted. The saw frame, which can be adjusted in the direction of the workpiece, is mounted on the intermediate carrier by a swivel support or a parallel guide. The swivel support for connecting the main carrier to the intermediate carrier is located above the workpiece to be processed.

Abstract:
A sawing apparatus for cutting dove-tail notches in boards includes at least one saw for cutting one or more back cuts of the dove-tail notch and at least one saw for cutting one or more head cuts of the dove-tail notch. The head saw is configured to be able to cut head cuts that are angled both with respect to a horizontal plane and a vertical plane that is generally parallel to one of the sides of the board. This type of head cut creates a Scandinavian or Finnish dove-tail notch. The sawing apparatus may be mounted on a towable trailer, may include a generator for powering the saws, and may utilize band saws for cutting the dove-tail notches.
